I was at the PEC on Friday and heard a customer’s Weissach GT3 RS when he was leaving....so only at lowish revs. It was noticeably quieter than my GT3 which I can only put down to the GPF so I imagine it’s the same for the 718 GT4 Spyder. Had a GPF’d 718 Boxster car a while ago which I compared to my wife’s two year old 718 Boxster....noticeable difference there too.

Deposit paid today on a Spyder!! March delivery that’s bloody perfect timing.! 86k spec think that’s about right still seems a bargain IMO.!

Anyone going to add a pipe? I’m tempted but want to hear the exhaust first.

Thought about the JCR but it's too expensive and I also want to keep my warranty.

Well done - what spec did you go for.

Letter of intent before or just called up and was an allocation available?

Had a letter of intent in for 14 months the first allocations went to the very best customers it appears my OPC said has had 1 x Spyder and 3 x GT4 this side of Xmas. He said they are only drip feeding card ATM even into 2020. Got a call we have a Feb build slot over the moon.!!
Spec: 13k of options..no buckets because I have back issues and I need 18 way. Plus my view is you can go more refined in the Spyder as it’s really a road car all be it a GT road car. If the exhaust is QT then that backs that up! IMO.

Congratulations!

I locked my spec down with my deposit at the end on November and it’s currently scheduled to leave the factory first week of Feb for an early March collection… I cannot wait!

I’ve had to go with solid black since jet black metallic is currently not available on the 718 GT4/Spyder, which is a bit of shame as my 992 C4S is jet black metallic and I love the colour + As a result of which the Spyder will be getting the full Topaz treatment (Paint Correction, Full PPF and Full Ceramic).

Regarding the exhaust, I’m also going to wait and hear it first… although that JCR system does sound good in the clip.

Here’s my spec for anyone interested…

718 Spyder:
Black
Convertible Top in Black
Decorative stitching in contrasting colour: Yellow
Headlight cleaning system covers painted
Roll-over bars painted in exterior colour
"PORSCHE" logo in satin black
Fuel filler cap with Aluminium look finish
Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB)
Wheels painted in satin platinum
LED headlights including Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS Plus)
Light design package
Electrically folding exterior mirrors
Automatically dimming mirrors with integrated rain sensor
Cruise control
ParkAssist (rear) with reversing camera
Speed limit display
Heated multifunction steering wheel
Full Bucket Seats
Two-zone automatic climate control
Smoking package
Fire Extinguisher
Vehicle key painted with key pouch in leather
Racing Yellow seat belts
Decorative stitching in contrasting colour

Yes!! Nice spec Joe.! Like it.!
I also wanted the metallic black I wonder why they didn’t do it.! Went for grey stitch with plenty of carbon, similar spec to yours added Burminster sound as that is supposed to be really good. Found Bose not so good in the 981 but I hear it’s a better system in the 718.

Great spec! Very similar to mine, except I’m Miami Blue. About £95K. May be here on Friday this week :-)

I got the call and email from my OPC today for April delivery. I thought I’d have more time to lock the spec in from what we had originally decided upon earlier this year, but I have until tomorrow. Current spec is CW with classic interior and folding buckets. Otherwise a strong spec with steels. Still thinking the colour is a little Abu Dhabi, but living in Switzerland it’s not quite as overt as the UK and I’ve read very mixed reviews on all types of seat. Thinking Gentian looks great. Argh first world problems!

what's the knowledge re availability - are they all gone ?

dealer i use basically gave me the usual you need to buy 6-7 cars / year to get one. Is that really the case in this economic climate ?

My OPC have said no more Spyder availability in 2020 and will not let me buy a GT4 either - maybe because I got a Spyder, which would be fair enough smile

Ask them in 6 months and I wonder if they'll be as cocky

Bucket seat choice for the Spyder is a tricky one…

"Full" buckets (918 style) = Electric height adjustable, fixed back but no heating option + A more upright driving position compared to the "Sport".
Vs.
"Sport" buckets = Fixed height but fold and can be heated + A more reclined driving position compared to the "Full".

I tried the "Full" buckets on a 981 Spyder and found that set to the lowest they went low enough for me to feel "in" rather than "on" the car (as others have said) + Given how I intend to use the Spyder (high days, holidays and the occasional trackday), I also preferred the more upright driving position.
The “Sport” bucket fixed height just isn't set low enough for me and I very much felt “on” rather than “in” + As I'm a fairly broad chap the wider fit of the "Full" compared to the "Sport" was better for me, that said, those of a narrower frame often comment that they slide around in the “Full” vs. “Sport".

I recommend trying both if you can as it really comes down to what shape you are… if you are not able to and are taller/broader then I would say the “Full” is the safer bet…. I concluded that having the better fitting seat was worth sacrificing the folding and heating functionality… although a real shame as heated seats are a lovely thing to have in an open top car.

Why don’t Porsche offer a heating option on the "Full" buckets? The Tillett fixed carbon buckets in my Caterham 620 had heating elements in them.

Thanks. That’s what I’d read. I’ve emailed the dealer to see if we can hold off the seat decision until Saturday.

I asked about it a year ago and was told that if it happened it would be at the end of the run and I would be endangering my chances of getting one if I waited in case it was available. This was before it was announced that it wouldn’t be ‘limited edition’

A few of us have tried and failed. I do expect a run will be eligible if the timing is right - a matter of keep asking.
