The new 718 Gt4/Spyder are here!
Discussion
Your OPC have been naughty with you. They should only have taken a deposit once a build slot had been assigned to you.
I think the next round of build allocations is due in the next couple of weeks, so if you can I would hold on until the end of February. If you haven't been given a build by then it will another 3 month wait until the next set are released.
So far there have been two rounds of allocations (mid-August and mid-November) with 2-3 cars per OPC each time.

Hi All, Does anyone know the current situation with regards to build slots? I was given an allocation for a GT4 back in August last year and i duly gave a 10k deposit. I didn't expect to be on the first run but i certainly expected to have been offered a build slot by now. I have been chasing but not getting any concrete information. Earlier this morning i was told they have only had 3 build slots so far and it could be 2nd - 3rd quarter. I'm getting very frustrated and considering cancelling altogether!
Yes that’s a bit strange?? I was only asked to pay £5k deposit once a built slot was available and assigned to me. I paid the deposit only when submitting the signed vehicle order form.911 JOE said:
My Spyder left the factory last week (about a week or so ahead of schedule) and was sat at the docks waiting for a ship as of yesterday.
On track for an early March collection as planned - Not long now!
Yes.!! My Spyder delivery is early March as well so it’s sounds as if all second wave cars are all arriving early March ish...Great timing with the new plate change and ready for summer. !On track for an early March collection as planned - Not long now!
I must say it seems GT4/Spyders are in very low production numbers. Can’t see this speeding up either. My OPC has only had 1 Spyder so far.?
I guess they reserved all slots for the 4.0 gts.
Once those sales dry up more gt cars will come.
They want to make more profit which means low gt slots until GTS orders vanish.
I think take up on GTS has been lower than expected, so I do expect more numbers in the next round of Gt's
Why sell a GT when you can sell a GTS ....

OPCs vary. I paid £10k deposit for my GT4, others have paid £5k or £3k. Similar with Spyders.
My OPC's general deposit rules are:718, Macan = 3k
911, Panamera, Cayenne = 5k
All GT and Turbo products = 10k
This obviously puts the Spyder in particular in a bit of grey area... 3k for a 718 or 10k for a GT product... We agreed on 5k in the end.
That said, If you were to order something like a fully loaded Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid in an absolutely horrendous spec (Mamba or Papaya with Bordeaux?), then I imagine they would want a bit more than 10k.

I'm starting to get very excited!
On the allocation ratio front, I think I remember hearing that on average most OPC's are getting 3 GT4's to only 1 Spyder.

Yeah! I think you could be right. Which is roughly what the 981 production run was like.I'm starting to get very excited!

Find the news re PDK pretty bizarre “to increase the market for the GT4 and Spyder”. Given the market is already well over subscribed, really, what’s the point of increasing it again unless production numbers are also increased?
How popular do people think PDK will be? If anyone here got a Q4 allocation then would you go PDK?ClioTrophy55 said:

Yes. I have an allocation and I am going PDK. I had PDK on my 987 Spyder and on my current 718 BGTS and Macan. I would not consider a manual box again - which is why I didn’t take a 981 Spyder. I fully understand the “ manual camp” however. Its all a matter of personal preferences.I'm currently sat in PEC Silverstone having driven their 718 GT4 all morning on a cold but bright and sunny day.
It's a cracking car for sure, a touch more refined in the handling stakes than the 981, but that's not a negative comment. It just feels a touch less raw, but just as accomplished.
The winner for me is the engine. It feels much more comfortable revving out to the red line, and just sweeter overall when compared to the old 3.8, which felt strangled to me. The new 4.0 is much better in that regard.
My car should have been completed this week, so roll on collection day next month!

Do you think that’s it for 2020 allocations? I have a deposit but my dealer has only got 3 cars (so far for 2020). To be honest would prefer pdk.
Thanks!
When I placed my deposit a month ago I was told by the OPC that they had their allocation for the full 2020 year and they were having only 6 Spyders. But other people on here have said that some OPC,s are expecting further allocations - so it’s hard to tell. Having said that, a friend of mine is also trying to get a Spyder. He has tried several OPC,s and none can offer him anything this year. Thanks!
