It may be how your OPC works, Cheib, but it's a bit naughty. A deposit should only really be given for a confirmed order i.e. build slot with signed order form and spec. I certainly wouldn't give my OPC £10k on a "promise" of a car.

Deposits were returned on some unfilled 981 GT4 orders as I recall. I thought the OPCs had learned from that as it's not great business to piss your customers off!
I know it’s not how every OPC works but I think a lot do....remember a lot of chat about it when the 991.2 GT3 came out. They don’t ask for them unless they know with a very good degree of certainty you’re getting a car. I think things have been tightened up since GT4 issues.

I don’t think an OPC is going to ask for a deposit without knowing someone is getting a build slot. I haven’t read of that happening for a long time.

Got it, thanks...

I was only asked to pay £3k deposit.
I guess the dealer must have wanted some sort of assurance that I was genuine as I had been pestering him for nearly a year after a letter of intent but I have never had a Porsche before and refused to buy a 2nd hand one at inflated prices. I'm in no hurry and was/am happy to wait for the right car.

I'll only start to get twitchy if it starts to look like it won't arrive before the end of the year and we don't have a German trade deal...

Fair point, I haven't either. Potentially waiting 12 months for a build slot is a bit iffy though - I wouldn't be amused...

I waited nine, was explained to me upfront the wait was going to be that long. All I wanted was the car...very lucky to get one and if those are the terms of getting one I would do it again tomorrow if it was a car I wanted as much.

I think if you don’t know the OPC it’s maybe slightly different but they have only asked for £3k....and with no previous history they maybe want to gauge commitment.

On the Taycan was asked for a £15k deposits for a Turbo S and no confirmed build slot. They declined.....

A build slot is an allocation. You're currently on a promise of a build slot/allocation. There's another similar case discussed earlier in this thread.

You shouldn't have had to pay a deposit until an actual build slot was given to you. You need to have a frank conversation with your OPC.
Hmm... I'll have to go and have a read back in this thread, I must have missed that, thanks...
I have a "New Vehicle Order Form" from them!
That was me. Im in the same boat. I signed a new vehicle order and gave a 10k deposit with a full spec back in August. I was given an ‘indication’ of March/April for delivery but not guaranteed. I did tell them at the time that i wanted it in the first half of the year but all i am hearing now is that they don’t have build slots and it could be 2nd or 3rd quarter. Ive tried asking where i am in the line but not getting any straight answer. I got more communication from them a few weeks ago when they were trying to sell me a flipped spyder! Im seriously pissed off and currently looking at possible alternatives. I think if i don’t hear anything concrete by end of Feb i will cancel and probably never buy another porsche.

Don't mean to pour petrol on this but I only paid a £5k deposit when my spec was confirmed and got a car 12 weeks later.

I'd write to the dealer principle seeking confirmation as dealers have already had production slots confirmed through to mid summer and would have asked you for the spec by now if you'd been assigned one of those. Id be asking where you are on the list and what slots they have satisfied or have already sold.

Very nice spec'ed Spyder at OPC... pretty sure they'll do a deal;

Having what was maybe the first 718 Spyder in the UK, I'm throughly enjoying it and intend on keeping it for a while. It's an amazing car, truly and seriously good fun imho. I really can't fault it...
Shame that it has probably the only 2 things I don’t like but realise all personal taste. . 1. Spyder Classic Interior. 2. It’s black and loses the lines of the car.
3. It’s got a Red roof

4. It’s up at £k18 overs - crazy when these cars would only be bought back at list by OPC’s - got to love them.

The spec on all 3 black cars are really odd - a couple with comforts (look awful with red interior) & and odd choice for a Spyder (buckets also take the red so much better) & two with red roofs - maybe it’s just me, but I really think convertible cars with red roofs look a bit “pony”.

Agree. You can buy them at list now, good few cancelled orders about.
Several people keep saying this - exactly how many are we talking about?
I told a mate this and he promptly phoned 5 dealers. Funnily, none have any.

People like to spout BS and normally it's because there is an agenda.

I actually bought a 991 GT3 list; someone pulled out after spec was locked and luckily the OPC thought of me next. Wonder if I was the only person not to pay overs? At the time you were talking £30k+ premium to get one - I felt very fortunate!

I think most of these "cancelled orders," may be the same dealer, looking at peoples' locations.

I know of one cancelled order that's still (well, was as at Saturday) still available but it's a £96k spec and not what would be my first choice of colour combination.

Gotcha - that was my assumption. Flippers in one particular OPC/chain bailing out then?

My 718 Spyder was PDI’d by my OPC today… I can now access her virtually via the PCC app… 19 miles on the clock.

Collection early March… time is dragging!

Everyone else with a Q1 allocation on track?

Yep, I think my GT4 arrived in the UK yesterday. I'm heading to my OPC tomorrow to drop off my current 981 GTS so I'll get an update from them then. I'm aiming for a Sat 8th March collection driving

I'll get the final figure tomorrow, but I believe it'll be around £42k-ish.
