On my GT4 I'm having the front bumper drilled to fit the number plate plinth, I'm letting the OPC wash and prep the car and I'll be washing the car myself when I think it looks a bit dirty. No PPF, no cermaic coating, no paint correction etc etc.
I'm just going to pick it up and drive it
Speaking of front number plate plinths, my OPC hasn’t fitted mine yet and has asked me to decide ASAP. I’m inclined to say fit it, as although it feels sacrilege to have the front bumper drilled, my car is black so the black plinth won’t stand out too much + It’s legal and peace of mind etc... I don’t fancy running no front plate, so an illegal sticky one is the only other option.I'm just going to pick it up and drive it
Are we crazy to have the plinths fitted?

Thanks guys - much appreciated.
I’m still on the fence but I’ve put feelers out for prices and will try the Reading on-site too (didn’t know this - are they recommended?)
“Beating up the neighbours kids” Brilliant...
My last one had nothing, but I did obsessively clean and polish it most weekends. After 3.5 years of 99% ‘spirited’ driving, the whole front end was amazingly clean, but the rear arches had a few souvenirs!
I’ve already lined up a plate at Highgate house (Rick - nice guy) - if I have any trouble with it will just get a proper one put on. Hopefully not after a fine...

I picked my GT4 up at lunch time today. I'm very very happy, it is a wonderful car.
In response to the number plate posts above - if you don't have the plinth fitted there will be two little dimples in the bumper which I presume are for pilot holes to fix the plinth. I had mine without the plinth but have a stick on plate to cover the dimples. I hope this makes sense.

If you don't drive in groups then you'll be fine without PPF. I had my 981 done, and it saved me a re-spray. I still had to have the front plastics re-done as they were peppered, along with some windscreens. But PPF, even though it had holes in it, the paint underneath when i took it off was perfect, I did the headlights too thankfully! If your near the midlands my friend ones a PPF place, did mine for a great price.I’m still on the fence but I’ve put feelers out for prices and will try the Reading on-site too (didn’t know this - are they recommended?)

Never been a fan of PPF. For me it only makes sense on a new car that you're going to move on after a few years. The next owner has the potential problems of the ageing plastic, no guarantee and the inevitable stone chip that goes through to the paint requiring the whole PPF panel to come off just to spray the stone chip and then re-apply. In addition the cost of the stuff isn't cheap you never get back.
Whilst this site gives the benefits of PPF it also highlights the pitfalls down the line. https://www.detailedimage.com/Ask-a-Pro/clear-film...

Sticky ones are legal just need to be the right size and have the right info on them. Highgate House made me one included OPC’s details on the border as you would get if you had a standard plate.
My spider should arrive end of this month , still considering a sticky plate , any chance of a photo of yours , any hints on getting it stuck on in the middle/straight ?485S said:

On its way for the recall....I got this plate which is standard size from www.onestopnumberplates.co.uk who are DVLA registered and a spare one from Rick with the same DVLA required details but which is less than the 111mm standard height. The fitted full height one looks fine and was half Rick's price.
