Finally got confirmation of a build slot. I’m being told its May production so early June delivery and i need to lock in my spec now
Great news, congrats. Hopefully I'll be in a months time.
How long did they give you to lock in your spec?

I'm still torn between Black and GT Silver but i think i'm swaying towards black. I used to own a 987 Cayman Design edition 1 and it still remains one of my favorite cars ever.

My biggest dilemma however is with the carbon brakes. I know i don't need them but i love the yellow calipers and how they blend with the interior but its a very extravagant option just for the yellow calipers.

Tricky - black calipers on steels are the other option I guess but it doesn't look as good. If you go steels, you'll need the red interior IMHO.

I've looked at both but i am still being drawn to the yellow. What did you go for?

I'm Racing Yellow with red steels and full yellow interior.

My initial choice was Crayon with full yellow interior and PCCBs because I couldn't come up with a steels combination that I liked. However I'm very anti-PCCB so that, along with seeing a Crayon car on a dull day, made me change my exterior colour and I'm glad I did smile

You could go black with aurum wheels and black steel brakes?

Congrat's! - That's a cracking spec...but then I would say that as it's pretty much the GT4 version of my Spyder spec - I posted some pics of mine on here last Friday + some good pics here:
https://www.instagram.com/p/B9ckRRplXcK/?igshid=19...

I'd go with the PCCB's (they are awesome) and keep the wheels platinum on a black car (I had to pay £842 for the privilege since silver is standard on the Spyder) as I think they look fantastic... but then I like a bit of contrast between the wheels and body. (If you decided to go GT silver then I would go for the black wheels).

I'd also be tempted to add a couple more relatively inexpensive options:
£291 Sun visors in Alcantara® - To tie in with all the other Alcantara (+ they are vinyl not leather as standard)
£236 Speed limit display - I find it handy
£210 Light design package

All the best

A good place for seeing different colour/spec combinations is the mobile.de used car website. They seem to have far more early used/flipped cars in Germany than does the UK.

I have that in my 991.2 and it’s useless. Had the same on an C43 and it was brilliant in comparison.

Had it in a Macan GTS and it was really reliable. Have it in a TCR and it's utterly useless - it just locks on the last sign it saw. Would expect it's out the same VAG parts bin. Is that the experience with your 991.2?

I have it in both my 992 C4S and 718 Spyder and find it very reliable, updates as you pass the sign.

There's a road near me which has a single 30 mph sign on one side of the road that is pretty badly obscured, that sometimes gets missed however, it always picks up the subsequent small repeater signs without issue.

Strange how it works in one and not the other.

I see speed limit signs that it doesn’t, so I don’t even have it selected on the mfd anymore.

The only time it has not displayed the correct speed limit was on one road where some "wag" had turned one of the signs around so left side sign was "national speed limit" and the other 40mph.

So I wondered following this weeks stock market melt down whether people think there will be many cancelled orders/requests for deposit refunds on new cars?

Absolutely, for example you have big airlines asking pilots and staff to take pay cuts etc and they are not alone. Some of the internal memos I have seen show some drastic actions being planned by some businesses. Chinese have screwed up the whole world with this virus and it’s only just started. You would want to be long in cash now not illiquid assets or taking on new big monthlies

Yes, the economic effects will be more far reaching than most think. Lots of hot cars have been made the last few years and lots on finance...they're generally the first thing to get culled

I think lots will be thinking twice about committing to new orders with jobs on the line. I’m sure by mid to late summer we will be over the worst of it. Hope so!?
