I spent absolutely ages agonising all over this, was going gentian, and at the last moment went python with lizard stitching and belts! Definitely not shy and retiring. Hope it works.

On its way over from the factory at the moment so I’ll know soon enough!

Absolutely agree. As I said in a previous post, just down to personal preferences. There is no right or wrong beer

If you like yellow stitching but are concerned the yellow belts clash with red calipers why not have standard belts instead. I have red stitching on my GT3 and red belts but with yellow pccb calipers and its a good combo so if you had yellow stitching and belts it is similar in reverse and that would look fine imo.

If you had platinum stitching that would match the platinum door pulls and by having red belts this would tie in with the red calipers. Some find plat stitching with Carrara white slightly insipid but I've had it on a few Porsche GTs and always sold ok.

I would drop the coloured dials they are never that popular used anyway.
I had PCCB's with yellow calipers on a Guards Red 981 Boxster GTS, all the other details black - it looked great. The problem with the dials is that the RHS dial remains black, so having the others in a contrasting colour looks mildly spare. Stick with standard?

Spent fully five hours last night on the configuration building my spec, obviously needed to get the Steering Committee to sign off on a few things, but here it is for critique:

http://www.porsche-code.com/PM8T1J65

I’ve got a month or so before it gets locked down. I flipped on colours, on the GT4 i had ordered, i’d have 100% gone for Yellow, but didn’t like that so much on the Spyder and Mrs S wasn’t keen. I’m very very tempted by Python Green, which would mean i’d change back to silver stitch etc. but for now Carrara White it is with a few red accents.

Heated seats was a must-have so that ruled out buckets, and i don’t like silver wheels. The free summer tyre option was interesting, i’ve ticked it for now but i’d like to know what brand of tyres you get.

OPC was telling me i needed to seriously consider PDK for rarity etc., but i want a manual.
Manual is the thing, it's the best manual box out there, bar none, ever, just IMHO. Your spec looks fabulous, a wonderful car, but I have a few suggestions, in a spirit of constructive criticism! Is it worth considering:-

Satin Black painted Alloys?

If you are going for black with red highlights in the interior, why not spec a fire extinguisher, it is red, not very expensive and adds a racy touch

Ali pedals?

Do you not think that the two red dials, with the black multi function unit on the right, looks a bit odd? All black is cheaper.

Personally, I'm not sure about the brushed ali interior trim, possibly a little ordinary? Carrara painted finish? Or is it worth considering leather or carbon?

Do you not want the 12 0'clock stripe on the steering wheel? I think that is available in red.

The higher priced adaptive LED headlight units are a little more but look more technical on what is a very special car?

Colour coded rollover bars? They always look extremely coordinated and cool.

Does anyone know - if you have the carbon bucket seats, you have a manual back/forward lever, and you have electric forward/back tilting. There are a load of bolts at the side of the seat, can you lower the seat?

Yep I would not go coloured dials and never have but each to their own.

Guards with yellow calipers looks great imo and is a nice contrast.

My Guards 718 GT4 has red calipers red stitching and red belts same as my 981 GT4 but everything ends up red lol...but I like it! Bit like Twinfans all yellow GT4!

Oddly whilst I always go flat Carrara white on GT3s I am not a fan of white GT4s preferring the car in Guards for some reason.

Seats go forward and backwards manually, up and down electronically, backrest angle can not be changed (stock, aftermarket brackets are available to tilt the seat).

No but you can buy adjusting bolts which tilt the seat more like the older folding buckets.

I enquired about the 12 o'clock marker and was informed that it is only available on a GT4 not a Spyder. Are you sure about this?

Thanks - however, I don't want to adjust the backrest angle, I want to drop the whole thing as low as possible. I would have been quite happy with no electric adjustment at all.

Cue half an hour on the Spyder configurator! I'm not sure, the comment came from configurating GT4's.

I don't think you'd get it any lower without the electric height adjustment, I have mine in the lowest position and seems to sit flush with the seat rails...

Went all in balls out this morning locking in the spec. Guards red instrument dials and seat belts, it's my car and I want to add some colour.

Salesman said coloured dials were popular, I said we will see about that when we come to discuss a trade-in in a few years. beer

I took off the summer tyre option, no guarantee of what I'll get and OPC wouldn't be wiling to cover it. I'll stick with Cup 2s.

I believe that there is also no guarantee with Cup 2 tyres. I think that the factory put on Michelin or Dunlop as the options. I've been told that it's the Michelin ones that you would want not the Dunlops but again no guarantee which ones would be fitted. As my car would be mainly for road use, I opted for the summer tyres which would mean Michelin or Pirellis. Better grip in the wet and more of an all year round tyre than the Cups for road use imo.

Standard High Performance Tyre = Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 or Dunlop Sport Maxx Race 2
Optional Summer Tyre = Michelin Pilot Sport 4S or Pirelli P-Zero

Which one of each you get is down to supply at the factory at the time of build - you get what you're given smile

Had the first Dunlops on my 981 GT4 found them slightly better than the Michelins in the wet but overall think the Mich are the better tyre.

Specified wanted Mich on the 718 GT4 and thankfully the car arrived with them but don't know whether I was just lucky.

Bugger. Might have to rethink that, got to the end of the week apparently before it's final. I honestly though the Dunlop thing was on earlier cars and all recent ones were exclusively PS2s.

I'll check with the OPC
