i read somewhere there might be an 'R' at some point?
sorry, can't remember the source.
edit: found it: https://www.motortrend.com/cars/porsche/718-cayman...
I saw that too, no-one else has mentioned it though. I suspect it's guess work rather than insider info.sorry, can't remember the source.

Be good if it's true though

The 718 GT4 is at the limit of the torque allowed by the manufacturers for the current 'box. Unless they increase the rev limit to get more power then they'll need a new manual 'box for any future versions. And with ICE on the way out, why would you pay for that development that will only have a very short lifespan?
I've said it before, but I think the GT4RS will be the swansong of the ICE Cayster platform before it goes fully electric.
Porsche are investing £££ big time though in their Chilean alternative fuel plants though and are presumably commited to ICE way past 2030.I've said it before, but I think the GT4RS will be the swansong of the ICE Cayster platform before it goes fully electric.

But yeah, the resurrection of the Cayman R would be a nice addition to the currently lineup.
Morning All - So I went to my OPC yesterday to try out the two things I wanted to test before my Spyder purchase, namely the manual gearbox and the 918 buckets. The OPC kindly gave me the keys for a GT4 to go out and try. On those two points:
1. Manual - Had an absolute blast down some country roads. Totally engaged with the car in a way I felt I could not in a PDK. First gear came into play a lot more than normal to build the revs and then there was no holding back. So manual it is!
2. 918 Buckets - I thought the problem was going to be the access in/out. That was not the case, something else was.15 minutes into the drive and I kept try to push it back with my shoulders. It just felt too upright. Suffice to say, after the drive which lasted about 45 mins, I still have a sore upper back. I know it has been mentioned previously about some brackets to lean the seat back more. Does anyone have this bracket setup and does it really help? Otherwise, I felt the buckets held me in firmly around bends, supportive and the driving position was spot on. . Really like the look of them as well! It really would be a disappointment to buy the car with the 918 seats and sadly not be able to use it after a few times due to this. The sofas would be a reluctant second option........

Your body is likely to adjust to being more upright. My wife's Recaros in her Focus RS were uncomfortable for me at first but now I get no issues at all. I've driven multiple continuous hours in my GT4 with LWBs and don't have a problem, and never did from day 1.
If you otherwise like the buckets I'd say go for them and ride out the initial soreness in your shoulders, but I appreciate it's a bit of a gamble that you'll adjust to them.

I was going to get the brackets but I just got used to the seats, felt no need for them in the end other cars feel too reclined for me now... 1. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to stop the side bolster from creasing with the bucket seats? Obviously you can adjust the way you get in / out. But I’m guessing it’s par for the course ?
Yep, there's no support within it so it'll crease. If you don't do it, someone at your OPC or Indy will eventually. Mine was slightly creased from new.Don't sweat it
Just a quick question - I took delivery of my GT4 yesterday and so i'm starting to familiarise myself with it. One thing that's nagging me is that i have park assist but without the camera function but do not have the de-activate park assist button in the overhead console. Is that normal or have Porsche missed a button out on my car?

I’ve fitted the Track Spec brackets and I think it has transformed the comfort levels. Better under thigh support and now I don’t start wriggling in the seat during longer drives. Well worth doing imoTwinfan said:
I have sensors and camera, this is my overhead console. I know on my old 981 GTS there was a button to silence the sensors, doesn't look like there is one on my GT4:
Thank-you for that Twinfan. We both don't have the the parking assist deactivation button. Also a chap over on the M3Cutters forum who recently purchased a 718GT4 has the same as us. The owners manual must be out of date or maybe they have changed things. Anyway my sales advisor is going to query it tomorrow. Thanks for your efforts.ScottyM4CP said:

No bother, let me know if your SA discovers anything. As you can tell, I never use the feature as I haven't noticed the missing button for the last 12 months...

Just a thought - I had front sensors on my 981 GTS and GT cars only have rear sensors. Maybe the overhead console button/option is only there if you have front sensors? Also, to deactivate the rear sensors, maybe you can press the PCM volume button to disable the beeps?
