My new Spyder is absolutely flying through the Porsche manufacturing system
Entered the body shop on 15/12/21, exited the factory on 22/12/22 and has arrived in Grimsby already . Which is mega quick since Christmas has come imbetween. Somebody has put a shift in somewhere.
Looks like it will land at my dealer later this week.
I am delighted since my last couple of Porsches have taken ages to get built / finished and then an eternity to get here.
Be interesting to see if anything is missing and how many keys I get.
Happy days.

March sounds like the perfect time for a Spyder delivery to me

First service on a 718 Spyder and I am being quoted £975.
This is definitely taking the piss. Are there any sensible OPC's left?
Sounds about right! Similar cost for my GTS first service. This is definitely taking the piss. Are there any sensible OPC's left?

I would be tempted to use a specialist, at those prices they are taking the p*ss, to get my 911 Gts first service last year was £675 and that stuck in my throat as all they did was change the oil and pollen filter. This is definitely taking the piss. Are there any sensible OPC's left?
But we aren't talking about a 20 year old Porsche here usual well discussed problems with probable warranty issues if serviced outside the network hardly worth it to save a few hundred quid.
Other obvious issues on impacting resale and residual value to many including OPCs wouldn't even consider a contemporary Porsche with non OPC history including me.
Support your OPC even if you screw them down on price they need the work and it win you bonus points too towards your next GT car allocation in the process.

This. All day every day if your OPC is a good one.Other obvious issues on impacting resale and residual value to many including OPCs wouldn't even consider a contemporary Porsche with non OPC history including me.

Should be No issue with non OPC servicing regarding warranty work, my Mrs Macan S was in yesterday and had work carried out and the previous servicing was done at Redline tbh they never asked about previous service history . Regarding getting an allocation I have been turned down and chased twice now, first in 2015 and last year and it sticks in my throat a bit spending money with them!. My car is due a service in March and there won't be a chance I will be paying through the nose for someone to change my oil then try and pressure me into changing the brake fluid then try and convince me it needs discs pads and 4 tyres as they are half worn which is what happened last time I was there in my GTS and if the next owner I sell to can't see past that it really isn't my problem. I bought my car knowing it was a mix of specialist and opc history and genuinely don't think I will have an issue selling when the time comes.

Does anyone have experience of windscreen protection film such as Clear Plex, just starting to look at all the PPF options for my May build Spyder.
Cheers

Yes, Targe (no affiliation). It's already saved my 718 Spyder's windscreen several times. https://targegard.com/Cheers

Also, getting a least a front end PPF wrap is essential. Today's eco-friendly paint is so much softer compared to my 987.2 Spyder.

Just to give a contrary view, neither my current or previous cars have been PPF'd and they only have/had the odd stone chip on the front bumper plus a bit of gravel rash inside the rear wheelarches (and I don't baby my cars). The GT4 has been on track a couple of times too.I argue that PPF isn't essential, personally

No worries. It’s on the road playing cat and mouse. I argue that PPF isn't essential, personally

Well my PTS Spyder has landed at the dealer and I am absolutely buzzing. It looks sublime. I was a bit nervous about the choice of colour but not any longer. Azzuro Theyts metallic.
Its a fantastic colour, its a bit bluer in real life that the pictures and it shimmers like its a bit wet. Not as dramatic as liquid metal silver on a 918 but a similar effect. Bearing in mind that that picture is taken on my crappy phone just after the transport covers were removed so its not at its best yet. Its going off to the detailer to be paint corrected, PPF applied and ceramic coated so when it gets back I will try to get some better pictures.
I have a shed load of things to do before its absolutely where I want it to be. Firstly the roll hoop covers are going away to be painted in the same colour as the car. Porsche wouldn't do that on a PTS car which is a PITA, they wouldn't even do gloss black despite it being on the configurator. After that I want to look at all the other black bits and change them for gloss carbon fibre or just gloss black depending on where they are. I am considering getting the callipers done in Azzuro Thetys as well.
Its a great feeling having a car that I love that is going to be unique to me. Made up.
