I received an email from my OPC yesterday that all GT4's for 2019/2020 had now been allocated and I wasnt a lucky one getting a slot. Supply is very much limited again despite what AP said about getting the car into more enthusiasts hands and later that night i was offered a flipped car from a buyer for what i predicted the overs market to be. A quick look on AT and i could buy a 65 plate GT3 with 800 miles on the clock for a lot less money. With them not building as many cars as originally speculated i think overs could be similar to the 981 market unless the UK becomes a very different place post brexit
I think the possible 10 percent Brexit surcharge potentially making a reasonable spec 718 GT4 a £100k+ car could be the deciding factor for many buyers. At this figure it is getting expensive especially for a Cayman imo.

A 65 plate 991.1 GT3 with 800 miles would be a great buy. Nearing one of the last UK cars.

I agree, my spec came to over 98k and then adding the 10% brexit charge takes it to 108k. Is it really worth that much for a cayman? Then add another 10-20k for the overs market if you cant get one new. Im a current GT4 owner and dont feel the performance increase is worth anywhere near that extra money. As soon as mines out of warranty id rather modify it or move to a 991 GT3

I dont know that and this is my impression based on talks and the emails from my OPC considering all build slots for 2020 have already been allocated as well. Dont believe it then go check out the email on my instagram.. They did say they dont have any view into 2021 yet as its too early but I doubt they're going to double production for that year. Im not saying its going to be extremely limited, im saying they arent going to be building a car for everyone who wants one as was first thought

From my understanding my OPC has more buyers than built slots for 2019 and 2020.

It appears we have the same new buying issue as previous GT models 👎

I was told my allocation for 2019 would be manual only, I could of had a allocation for 2020 but they had no way of guaranteeing PDK was even coming as Porsche haven’t confirmed that it definitely was. I guess it would be at my own risk if I took the 2020 car. I don’t think this would of even been mentioned if they didn’t have a idea of numbers for 2019 and 2020.

From my understanding buyers who have a allocated car would of been asked to pay a 5k deposit by now.

I assume this will probably happen again around the late summer of 2020 if 2021 cars get produced.

Whats people’s thoughts on colours, I’m really struggling.

I have gone for Crayon. Having seen the GT4 in the flesh, it looks way more aggressive than the 981 - basically like an RS version. In fact, other than the slats, it is like a mini GT2 or GT3 RS. I therefore think the contrast of Crayon will accentuate the black plastic aero bits nicely.

Would have liked black, but decided that not being metallic would bug me. I thought about yellow, but for me Speed looks a bit week, and I'd just wish it was Signal (one of my all time favourites).

Currently gone for:

- Buckets (not Clubsport)
- Silver deviation and belts
- Chrono
- PCCBs
- LED lights
- Sensors with camera
- Carbon interior
- Bose

Few other trinkets but keep speccing down as going for Crayon has cost me the equivalent of a few nice options!

I’ve gone for CWM...Would have loved Blue but I don’t like Gentian and as for Miami, I see a Boxster GTS on the road regularly and one day it looks stunning and another day not so (only my opinion)...

Have you thought about miami blue seatbelts?? In this Shmee video there's a 'fashion grey' GT3 but looks crayon and it has blue seatbelts (at 8.38) and I think it looks great.

Very much doubt allocations have been given to OPC’s yet but I reckon there’s a good chance they know how many. When 991.2 GT3 was launched at Geneva in 2017 I was told I had a very good chance of getting a 2018 but they wouldn’t know 100% until close to the time. Like many people I was told Nov 2017 I was getting a 2018 car...so that’s when OPC’s got those build slots for sure. WIth 991.2 GT3 build slots were released in three tranches IIRC first batch around launch, second batch for delivery Q3/Q4 2017...people were told early summer and 2018 cars Nov 2017.

I think with 80% certainty OPC’s know the minimum amount of cars they’ll get into 2020...obviously they can get more cars but I don’t think they’ll get less. They don’t know allocations but they probably know who those cars are going to already....

Miami in the real light doesn’t look great imo.

Crayon or CWM at the moment for me.

Sums it up well I think - a great car but a muted sound and softened around the edges compared to the previous one. Exactly what you'd expect given what we know about Porsche and also GPF filters.

So let me guess you think the original 981 is better than a 718 ? What a shocker I think I need to sit down...

Exactly. A fair comparison to the previous car, exactly what those who've driven the 981 GT4 wanted.
