Back to allocations and delivery, has anyone had notification that their chosen options are now locked and/or of the scheduled build commencement date, other than just 'October' etc ?

What’s your thoughts nick on this no deal extra 10% car tax we could be lumbered with come
October, if the 10% does kick in a nice spec car could get dam close to 100k.

Talking to sales guy at OPC today as I have taken my 981 Cayman S in to have issues with gtechniq sorted, asked him bout 718 GT4, they have sold 4 so far, but are only considering customers who have 6-7 car buying history with them.

No indication from OPC that there is any uplift in the stated price, but this could be that I have an October build.

It’s a Cayman!
Reflects the demand for the car I guess.

Imo this unlimited numbers stuff and everyone who wants one will get one is just marketing bluff.

The other thing I am hearing is that numbers will be virtually the same as the 981.

981 GT4 still seem to sell without issue as the right spec doesn't hang around for long at most OPCs

That's what they tried with me when I tried to get a 991.2 GT3.
Ummer, Arred, then told me I couldn't get one.

1 day later the sales dude is calling me about GT4s hehe

Hi all
Here in Italy they say all the cars will arrive in 2020, with allocations after september 2019.
I think I’ll wait for PDK to be configurable but OPC assured I should get one (Spyder).

It seems that Catchpole likes the car a lot : )
But please don’t build it in Crayon with black wheels...so sad !!!

he said it is what is is, and if you want NA you have to make compromises, so a very clever review.
Rather than slag it off, he said no one else makes NA cars like this.
And he also quoted you ride the torque etc etc.

worse thing about the old car is in the car car, so he is right it is what is is.

Got the call I had been waiting for today - Spyder ordered for a Oct / Nov build - Dec / Jan delivery. I missed out on the last one, so excited I have managed to get one this time round - seems to be quite a step up from the last model.

Trying to decide between 18 ways or Buckets (heatable ones). Other than that spec all sorted.

Yes it’s frustrating- I would like a NASP manual 2 seat convertible- no one else makes them. So you are limited in choices - I believe one choice smile. I have had a Spyder order for 3 years now but given the compromises, it takes a little of the excitement away. If 981 Spyder prices would drop well below the new one, Ratios the same, shove the same, and no crackles and pops ((which I liked on my Cayman GTS). I would be tempted to get it and change the gearing and maybe drop in 4.2 litre in down the road.

Yup I'd keep the 981 if i had one. 718 seems a great car but doesn't seem to tingle the senses as much. I'd probably still take a 718 Spyder uf looking for a new 2 seater mr na manual at sub 85K.

Btw David....you said you brought a new car a few weeks ago, what was it?

Spotted this review on Road and Track:

https://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/first-drives...

We all have different needs - but summarising remarks worth noting:

"As such, the Spyder’s sharper-but-harsher chassis makes less sense than the 718 GTS, whether on backroads in Scotland or near Lime Rock, Connecticut. Same goes for the peaky 4.0-liter flat-six, which shines on-track in the GT4 - but doesn’t get to breathe and shout much on the road. That much-anticipated engine adds another 204 lbs to the Spyder too, compared to a stick-shift GTS. That’s weight worth noting."

Um.
