May be worth having a chat with your contact at your OPC. From my understanding if your car isn’t in your OPC and registered in your name before the no deal date (if it happens) you are liable for the additional duty if we leave which I understand to be either 10% or 15% value of the car after Vat. My car won’t be here to December so there’s a possibility my car could jump up considerably in price, which to me then defeats why I’m buying an entry level Porsche GT car new.
If this does happen I assume a nice spec 718 GT4 could easily break 100k retail and that’s just to much money at retail imo.
Borris will get a deal without these tariffs imo. Still too much for this car now 997.2 GT3 are £95k though. So cannot understand the demand. If this does happen I assume a nice spec 718 GT4 could easily break 100k retail and that’s just to much money at retail imo.
So if you end up having to pay 10% extra for your new car, you can blame the UK government.

The only way to apply the tariffs that we want for European goods is to agree a trade deal with them separately.

OPC quoted me £20k to retro-fit them.
Wow!Ended up speccing the Sports Seats (18 way). Sat in bucket and whilst Ok I did think on long journeys I would notice it. Buying the car to drive it (not garage it) so want to enjoy it and be comfortable.
Roll on November when the Spyder arrives (assuming there isn’t a No Deal brexit and they want another £10k!!).
I didn't find the buckets that comfortable or supportive and they certainly didn't hold me in place particularly well (I am built like a racing snake though). Got the standard 4 ways in my T as the 18 ways didn't get me any more comfortable and nearly 18 months in I'm happy with my choice

This will have an impact on sales and car prices.
The car trade is struggling already, this could make it very difficult for new car sales.

TX.
In a pub I used to frequent the landlady dabbled in politics - she had a sign which read 'Democracy - a system where two idiots can outvote a genius.'
We already pay a ton of tax on cars, which we buy with income that's been taxed and now we'll have to pay another tax, so we can drive the car, pay more tax and buy petrol which is heavily taxed.
Meanwhile a man who thinks he is Churchill the politician is proving to be about as effective as Churchill the dog from the insurance ad.

UK gov't can set whatever import tariffs it wants if we leave the EU with no deal (which would appear to now be government policy). Porsche are assuming UK import tariff will apply to finished cars because that's the position the government stated back in March prior to original deadline. Any tariff it sets on imports from EU have to be applied to imports from all other countries (eg US) under WTO MFN rules.
So if you end up having to pay 10% extra for your new car, you can blame the UK government.
As the assumed tariff is 10%, why does the retail price go up 10%?So if you end up having to pay 10% extra for your new car, you can blame the UK government.
So Porsche pays AG full UK price before UK VAT and car tax and therefore makes no profit on new car sales, really?

Porsche UK imports car. They pay UK gov't 10% import duty on the price they pay Porsche Germany. If Porsche UK want to keep the % margin they make the same, they increase the retail price by 10%. VAT then gets added on top of that. So Porsche pays AG full UK price before UK VAT and car tax and therefore makes no profit on new car sales, really?
It may be that in time Porsche UK decides it does not want to pass through the full impact of the import duty to buyers (eg because they find they are selling fewer cars), or that Porsche Germany decides the same and agrees to drop the wholesale price it charges Porsche UK, but clearly at the moment they've decided they want to be able to pass the impact of import duties through to end customers.
I suspect what will happen is individual dealers will discount a bit more if they find volumes are being hit, but IMV unlikely that will happen on GT cars where demand outstrips supply.
