For those who did not spec carbon inlays, anyone opt for the ‘Anthracite’ inlays as opposed to the default silver aluminium ones?
Interior is racetex with silver stitching with GR dials and seatbelts.
I went for the leather inserts (apologies for crap photos):

and, in another thread, found the anthracite:

Thanks EJH, I popped to the OPC and they had samples of both, not much difference. I'm thinking of sticking with the brighter silver just to break up the black all over the inside.

Here's anthracite - works brilliantly with silver stitching/belts

That looks really good!

I ordered the leather having seen none of the options (I ordered last year in a very strange time and it was pure online order, click & collect and a lot of guesswork). I wouldn't change any of the choices I made...but that's definitely more by luck than judgement!

If you have buckets, go carbon.

Simples.

Totally subjective aesthetics here, but I vote against carbon for anything that doesn't have a sound engineering reason to be carbon.

Agreed - its totally personal opinion, but mine is that the brushed anthracite compliments silver stitching/belts/door pulls far better than carbon.

If you had different stitching colours though, this might completely alter the complementary nature of the anthracite, notably as you would lose the 'brushed' (dull) nature which works so well with silver.

If you had a stitching with a darker tone (say red), carbon would probably off-set/complement this much better given its glossy nature.

What stopped me spec’ing the Carbon was that to my eye at least it doesn’t look like “real” carbon, rather plasticky for my liking.

I have the opinion that Carbon accents / Decals / Contrast Stitching are like ‘Go Faster Stripes ‘. ….. very Boy Racer and not in keeping with the 718 Spyder …… Still ; each to his / her Own .

Reason why I've not opted to go for the carbon inlays.

I think Silver is a good contrast to the black/Silver lined racetex but at the same time, anthracite does provide a little more subtle

Decals are completely different to contrasting stitching and carbon though and again subtlety is key. Some of the amateurish side decals in particular posted on some threads really are are totally inappropriate and are verging on the cringeworthy and fall well into the boy racer image whereas in contrast say a small GT3/GT4 door decal at the front of the door bottoms looks great providing it matches the rear badge in colour and finish.

In contrast carbon and contrasting stitching are actually two of the most requested options on a contemporary used Porche GT and as previously mentioned they really are 'no brainer' options as they add more value to the car than the actual cost of the option hence if you like them they will always be a good choice in addition to making the cabin a far nicer place to be.

Finally, after years of hassling my OPC I have a £5K deposit on a Spyder! It’s not an allocation yet, but I am currently third on his list. He assures me he will only take a deposit if he is certain it will turn in to an allocation, so fingers crossed!
Assuming I do get an allocation, what is the typical time before spec lockdown and eventual delivery?
Thanks

While each opc allocation is different I’d be budgeting 12-15months.
My deposit went down in Jan, and latest info from the opc is they’ll get the remainder of their 2021 slots next week so I’ve got fingers crossed for a build slot at the end of the year, delivery in q1.
