Isn't 11.75% fixed an apr of over 23% ??
Depends how you do the maths. If you intend to still own the car at the end of it all, you'll have paid about 7.5% APR (~£65k) for the financing (and you'll need another £81,000 on the hip for the pleasure). By my maths, over term it is indeed about 11.75% APR for the full sum if you don't buy the car at the end of it all. But that doesn't account for the loan value decrease over the years, so you are probably in the ball park at 23% APR for real life interest payments if you don't buy the car, 15% if you have some cash to buy it back with. You'd also need to consider how the value of the car fared over 4 years to see if you won or lost.

Personal finance plans have always been an expensive way of buying a car. I was somehow obliged to spend 20 minutes with a "finance manager" at an OPC when I bought my first new Porsche back when borrowing was cheap, and she was obliged to try to sell me finance to "free up" the cash I would have tied up in the car over a planned 3 years of ownership.

I had to point out it would cost about the same to remortgage my house to do it. When we worked out the equivalent repayments, costs weren't all that different, until considering who owned the car at the end of the plan. I was really surprised how close to list price you could pay for a car over 3 years, and then not own it at the end of it all.

It's an expensive way of borrowing money, and this will become increasingly obvious as interest rates rise. If you've got plenty of equity left in a house, it's a lot cheaper to borrow against existing property. (Having said that, last time I tried to remortgage, interest rates were too low for the building society to be terribly interested in lending. Ended up earning the money I needed while they procrastinated, so never signed the paperwork. Bet it would be a different story now!)

Correction ... a little lower down the calculation it confirms the apr being a little less than 11.75 % ...

You have to ask why there aren't lots of GT4RS owners on here telling us how wonderful the car is and presenting the alternative view ...
I'll happily present an alternative view. I love the car and am happy with what I paid for it, to my mind it represents good value for money. Resale is only relevant when I want to sell it - which I don't at present. It will be worth what someone is willing to pay me for it when I do, that might be over list price or under it, but either way I will extracted the value from it in terms of enjoyment and ownership experience.

It's loud, but that's all part of the experience and ear plugs are cheap (my hearing is past its best at this point anyway), but no louder than riding some motorcycles that many may be accustomed to (Ducati & Harleys et al).

It is a special car and it feels special. At least as special as my previous 997.2 GT3 RS and more special than any other GT car I've owned.

So speculate away on current and future value, production numbers and whether it's too much money for 'just' a Cayman. I love mine, and that's all that matters (to me).

Please don't get me wrong.

If I could buy a GT4RS at the dealer retail price I would without hesitation do this ... I agree that it is a great car for that money.

I would love to hear from GT4RS' in the wild being used and enjoyed, but why aren't there more of you ? How many are being traded on ? How many are being parked up in garages awaiting their ultimate sale ? Surely there must be 50 or more out there now ?

I would have thought there are 50 'in the wild' by now. My dealership got one allocation (mine), but other, larger dealerships I am sure will have had more (Porsche Retail Group etc.).

My car is currently parked in my garage awaiting a day that is suitable for use, the tyres limit usability in Winter for sure (see Harry's Garage video) and when you couple that with my location (the Isle of Man) and its prevailing weather, it limits opportunities at present - but this is no different from my other GT and RS cars which were also only lightly used in Winter.
I could swop to Winter tyres, but I have the magnesium wheels, so who changes the tyres and when I change them are a consideration!

I took delivery of my car in October and it has been used on the road since I took delivery, the logistics of getting to a track in the UK are more challenging for me, but from the Spring onwards, I hope to make a few trips to UK and European tracks in it.

Congrats on the car. You clearly paid RRP. Would you say the same knowing the car now as you do if you had been asked to pay £265k for it ??

Honestly, I'm not sure I would pay £265k for it if that was the only way to secure one. However, having said that, I have spent a good deal of money on Porsche cars and lost a fair amount in depreciation in the process - so perhaps I have paid significantly more than list to 'earn' the right/opportunity to purchase one?
But if someone is willing to pay that to add it to a collection, or because they weren't able to secure an allocation for a car they desperately want to experience and enjoy, then I wouldn't stand in their way. It wouldn't be mine they would be buying however, as it's not for sale!

I suspect you have the perfect car for summer /dry days going over the mountain on the IOM, without regard for any posted speed limits. Can you get a ferry to Wales directly for Anglesey trackdays perhaps?

Ferries run to Heysham (Lancaster) year-round (weather permitting) and Liverpool during the Summer - but both are within easy reach of Anglesey and Oulton Park etc. Any trip 'across' is a 3-day event (travel the day before, the event and then travel the day after). You can also get ferries to Dublin and Belfast too, but only infrequently. But I'm not complaining, the roads on the Island are great and no speed limits where what the UK would recognise as a national speed limit sign is displayed.

I think its a case of each to their own. If a customer gets an allocation for a GT product but doesn't want to track, or indeed drive it, then that's a real shame, but that's up to them. I've had mine since May... its done 9 trackdays since about July including Zandvoort and SPA. Many of you will have seen it at UK circuits and various meets including Donny yesterday. Giving thoughts/opinions on the car is very subjective but hands down, this is the best GT car I've ever owned. I feel privileged to have what I feel is a very special car, the first and probably only 4RS (NA) in history. I can understand folk paying overs for one (as I have for other cars), how much depends on personal circumstance etc

Can you PM me with the bonnet strip cost please or post on here if you want? (I know it's many thousands)
The bonnet stripe is a CXX option and is about £5k plus VAT (so £6k), if memory serves me right.

That is the nicest looking one I've seen. Silver is a boring colour but as the car has so much going on, it works.

Even if I was a billionaire, I don't think I could bring myself to spend 6k on a bonnet stripe.
