What are peoples thoughts on the possibility of an 718 RS Spyder? I think it’s probably too niche, but would be a bit of a road going weapon.
I’ll stick my neck out and say no chance !
+1 and the chassis is not up to it either.

Why not....? Genuinely not trying to be a smart arse here.
A very sensible question deserving a fair answer ... I still remember our conversation at Spa when you had the McLaren smile

For me it would be bit too precious ? I have never had any illusions that the money I have spent tuning and fettling my 981GT4 should come from my ex-racing budget .. i.e. money burnt ...

I also prefer five lug wheels rather than centre locks ... and I own the very nicest 996 GT3 MkI CS as a heritage car ...

But short of a 997 4.0L ... the 3.8 is right up there ... just not for trackdays where the leaning stops when the car starts sliding ... and instinct and intuition take over smile

The essence of wannabe racing is the confidence to sort out whatever comes next ... the car becomes a riskable asset ...

And the next thing is that I have found my GT4RS antidote ...

I will trade out of my Toyota Yaris GRMN and into a GR Yaris ... much closer to the RWD BMW 328Coupe and FWD Ford Focus that I drove on a frozen lake and the next adventure ...

Classic will be the 944 Turbo Cup and I have just put the wets onto the GT4. I can't wait to get out there ... one day.

Let Porsche wait for me to buy another new car from them.

Don't know if these are real for sure, but they look fairly legit to me:

Oof yes please. Looks like it might be quite close, decals on etc. launch colour?
Wonder what colour it actually is?

Looks like there is some extra aero treatment on the front fascia in front of the wheels & top of front wing vents
NACA Ducts for brakes like 911 GTx RS
Rear 1/4 Window intakes, present.
Crazy odd wing, at a raised height... not sure why not just go with the 718 CS wing...- I guess the wing for this road car will still be less effective that the CS part - or just in balance with the front, unless it is now active.

Overall more extreme visually, maybe more for impact/differentiation than anything else.

More importantly we need to see the actual specs and technical details.

That's what I'm most interested in.

As for the colour and decals. they both look st to my eyes. I hope that's not launch spec!

The height of the wing “may” be driven by some rearward visibility Regs? Not sure about that but I have a feeling that there are some odd regs about what you have to be able to see in the rear view mirror if it’s fitted!
Still higher the better for aero laugh

I think most of the tech specs are straightforward enough to guess. The biggy is how much grunt has it got? 450 bhp and it will be a nice car. 500 BHP and it’s off the scale lovely. Place your bets.

450bhp via intake mods, exhaust mods and a remap to the current 4.0 in the GT4/Spyder. Nothing major and something that's easily achieved.

I think it's too early for it be a swansong for ICE in the Cayster, this may be the interim step before a 475bhp finale limited edition...

Good point about regs dictating the wing although i think it’s be more likely to be due to pedestrians safety than visibility.... some road cars have no rear window glass... see Exige 410 Sport....

Agree on the colour based on those pics...

As for the spec... I’ll be totally blown away if they give it 475 or more... that’s a massive massive jump, and then I’d expect that it’s a swan song limited car.... that is an unprecedented outlier in the family performance hierarchy.
I’d more reasonably expect 450hp....

If 450bhp it's not so far away from the tuned 981GT4's ... will they continue the torque limit at 310 ft lbs ?

PDK only in the RS I reckon, so no torque limit required.

It’ll be PDK so I think they’d give some more torque but not loads still.
As for peak power @450ps, as you say tuned 981 GT4 are not far away, and modded 718 4.0 can achieve that also with not too much work.

My guess it'll be 450PS of the existing 4L GT4 engine with better breathing. Hopefully it'll also rev to 8.5K with the extra 30PS coming from extra revs rather than torque. About £105k base price unless that've gone mad on the spec.

Yep, as per watermark, it's just a "vision" of what it might look like by a CG artist.

Yep. It’s render... lol. I thought it could be but it’s pretty close to what we are seeing running around anyway, it doesn’t really matter.
It’s not going to be a million miles of that and as I said before, the halfords treatment isn’t important unless it adds up to real performance.

That explains the crap colour and the 997 GT3RS decals then!
