GT4 RS breaks cover then...
Discussion
Few things…
- there’s minimal drag from the kit. You can see the top speed is actually higher in the 4RS MR video
Let’s not get carried away - it’s not downforce that means you keep your foot flat round fast corners, it’s probably more “stability based”
- the carbon bits aren’t going to be damaged. It’s a gurney strip and louvres
- although expensive at 3.9k euros for the carbon aero bits, I wouldn’t say that’s the expensive bit? Can’t ignore the remaining 36k!
The way I’m looking at it is, how much would it cost to get a 4 way suspension setup, plus the time spent getting the settings?
Probably 20k
Then the aero… it’s the expensive bit but are you going to look at the rear glass panel / boot, reinforce it, stick on a wing, tinker with the suspension settings etc…?
And maintain warranty?
Nope.
So options are same as the GT4:
A) get more camber through whatever parts necessary.
Probably fine for most and from a value perspective makes the most sense as it prevents tyre wear
B) get the MR suspension that’ll sort out bumpy bits at the ring
Although expensive, the car is then arguably “what Porsche should have built” - useful if you use the car at the ring
C) do the whole kit and be safe in the knowledge the car is as good as it’ll ever be
None of these decisions make any sense. Driving a 150k car round and round in circles and burning fuel and rubber and brake pads, at great cost, makes no real sense
It’ll all come down to what each person would be sacrificing if they spent money on A/B/C
If the full kit doesn’t stop you from doing whatever you want in life, and the 4RS is all the car you want, I suspect you’d get the full kit
If you like swapping cars, you’ll probably pass on it all and get something else
If you’re driving the car on track a lot, you’ll do A for sure. Maybe B if you have bumpy tracks

I’m sure I can lose the difference by having by taking the drivers manual out of the glove box, lol.
Tyronne, in the 80's I did a race at Castle Coombe in my TR6 after qualifying , I was perturbed by some oversteer when someone opened the boot and there were 24 bottles of Cabernet Sauvingnon I was taking to a party that night , down the road in Wiltshire ....hunter 66 said:

If you plan to press on as best you can on track, surely cosmetic carbon is the wrong way to go ?
I now drive track days uninsured ... in a car that can be repaired relatively inexpensively should the worst happen.
So long as there is enough adjustment in the suspension to avoid excessive tyre shoulder wear, I would say that the best investment is in quality dampers. Running the kerbs effectively makes a huge difference to track lines and can also make a significant improvement on the PASM systems on the road .... fast bump of three way dampers makes a huge difference ... though I can't speak for the standard fit on a GT2RS ...
Yes I am agreeing with you - will probably just get the dampers. The MR wing alone costs over 20k for the GT2RS and I don’t personally see the value. I now drive track days uninsured ... in a car that can be repaired relatively inexpensively should the worst happen.

Damper rate can be opened up to go relatively plush.
Ride would still be ‘firm’ because of spring rate, but less brittle, more controlled particularly on the rebound.
So car won’t pogo around especially on the rear.
Ok, makes sense. That seems to be major complaint for both gt4rs and gt3 from reviews ive see and readRide would still be ‘firm’ because of spring rate, but less brittle, more controlled particularly on the rebound.

Standard wheels though. Be interested to see how long this hangs around as its a fair bit cheaper than the rest of the market!

We all place value differently though the market is the judge I guess. When people say the car is good but not worth £150k or whatever, I ask in comparison to what?
