Remember the 718 is torque limited on both gearbox's

so I don't think we will see 450 bhp, maybe 435 bhp and also a manual option.
thing is without the torque the car won't feel any faster and we all know Porsche weight saving is a joke, not on Ferrari levels, so 20 kg lighter maybe.

Spyder RS will be interesting but a very odd model. None of the GT4 RS bits but it gets the power and the manual as a run out special.
will it be that limited ? with no GT4 and Spyder models now, the full 718GT production is 718 RS and Spyder RS for 2022 might be more cars then we think. I bet 5000 WW which seems to be the norm now days to make it worth their while.

Unless the torque limitation was a marketing ploy ?

There was a reason why they moved from the splined shaft of the first GT4's to a welded gear attachment and as far as I know nobody has revealed what the "cure" was when some failed ?

It would take a lot to make a spline fail !

I was told that the gearboxes were designed to be good for 550nm ... which is over 400 ft lbs.

I stand by my original guess of 450PS and PDK only and will weigh pretty much the same as a GT4. Bigger tyres, wheels will add weight offset by some Carbon ala GT3 RS. The new Li-ion 40Ah battery will be a given saving about 15Kg over the standard GT4.
Base price assuming no Weissach pack will be around £110k which is about £30k more than the standard GT4 PDK.
I agree that it'll be a fantastic track car and much easier to drive than the 991.2GT3 RS on the limit. I prefer its looks compared to the 992GT3 but the latter will still be the daddy on track.

I'll take the bet :-) time will tell in week 46/47 I guess along with the 992T launch, also cannot see a £110k price that was GT3 money with a £45k engine.
be 435hp and £10k more than the 718 GT4 with both gear box options.
People are expecting way too much from the GT4 RS imo.

are they easier to drive ? not really these days as the GT3 has better multilink rear end so very predictable. Easy to drive slower maybe no easier/harder to drive on the limit than any other car. People say this on forums who tend to be very slow I find.

I was guessing not betting on 450PS;) Its interesting what you say about the GT4 RS and could well be right on both points. Even at 435PS and at no more than £100k I'd be interested as a much more affordable track day car than my current RS WP.
Today's cars have gotten too powerful for the road IMO. Having said that I still bought a 812SF so it must make me the world's biggest hypocrite.laugh

I went the other way and ordered an Emira :-) plenty of car for the road with the right power and steering feel seems a steel fully loaded for £75k.

I am prepared to bet you the cost of a very good lunch that this is not the case. The strut rear suspension of the GT4 is nowhere near as sophisticated as the GT3 and the current cars certainly can bite and bite hard at the absolute limit. I am very interested to see what they do with the rear end of the GT4 RS, the more power it gets the more likely it is to be a handful under certain track conditions unless they revise the geometry or, more likely, stiffen up the rear quite a lot. I have no doubt that the cars will be very well developed and sorted in the usual Porsche way. I am hoping to find out for myself.

So, is the Spyder RS a definite yet does anyone know? Likely launch date?

I predict resale flipper values at £150K.

Looks like a 2023 arrival for ‘Spyder RS’, based on the info that’s around.
No mules or spy shots of this yet though.

The GT3 RS is bloody hard to drive fast - by fast I mean sub 7min ring lap

Takes a lot of talent and also confidence. Takes a very different style

GT4 far easier and more intuitive to drive

I agree 100%. The 991.2GT3 RS is actually harder to drive then the gen 1 despite ultimately being much faster, more capable, more fun and more rewarding. However I'm not quite at sub 7min 'Ring time yet laugh

A friend had ST fitted to his MY 2022 718 GT4 PCCB last week. Noticed the same thing.

But still not as good as ST's ... unless the disc itself is changed to an ST or better cooling equivalent ?

Pics are just to show that parts for the new cars are already existing... callipers and rotor sizes.

Ref the ST's, agreed - probably the best overall rotor for 'trackday-ers' if you can bear the upfront cost.
