I know seats have been done to death, but I tried Full buckets and Sports Plus today with a helmet on. Some reason the Sports Plus were better, the Full Buckets pushed my head forward a bit uncomfortably.

Yes, unfortunately they don’t suit everyone.

Personally unless you go full harnesses, full buckets don’t make sense. They look great but if sticking with three point belt then standard plus are fine and offer decent lateral support and go fairly low. 18 way apparently don’t go as low.

You can get small adapters that tip the full carbon buckets back a bit to stop them doing that. Ive fitted to mu drivers seat. Only downside is making sure you cant push the seat quite as far back.

For Cayman my OPC has one slot for May, which is mine. one for June and one for July. For Boxster they only have one and that's for June.

Can't see much in the way of discounts being available.

A bit off topic - but my dealer told me yesterday that they have four pre registered 992 Carrera S Cabrios coming in pre registered at “substantial discount”. Sign of the times?

Yes, I think it'll get worse too.

Would you mind naming said brokers?

What seats did you try and what were your conclusions about them?

I was interested to try out the 18way electric but couldn’t find any anywhere to try out.

I tried them all, and for me:

Sports plus (std):
pros: comfortable, adjustable, can add Isofix for kids and airbag kill. go nice and low, seem to work ok with helmet on
Cons: don’t feel that special, the silver backing looks terrible, may be a bit short of latteral support.

The 18 way
Similar to sport plus but don’t seem to go as low and I didn’t need all the adjustment

Sport Bucket
Pros: for me the best looking for a GTS, can still have seat heating, not too dear. Good lateral support.
Cons: no height adjustment, and the shoulder area can feel a bit tight, they sit a bit too high.

Full Bucket
Pros: height adjustable bucket, what’s not to like?
Still look good but might be a bit too GT for a GTS. Great lateral support without the shoulder tightness.
Cons: bloody expensive, not that well adapted for helmet wearing for me. Not heating (though I didn’t really mind)

Speak to Chester and Reading. The had a couple of build slots still up for grabs last Monday... Probably not for long though now I’ve posted that!

I think that the standard sports seats have a lot to recommend them. IMHO the more auto functions in the seats the more kit they have under them and the higher the seat sits. I’d much rather sit lower. I had them in a Boxster GTS 981 and they were fine.

The older sports buckets are actually wider at the shoulders and narrower at the hips than the newer Spyder buckets.

The Spyder buckets sit you around half a centimetre lower than the Sports buckets.

The Spyder buckets backrest is angled more vertically than the Sports buckets although spacers can be easily fitted to overcome this.

Be aware that the foam padding behind the main alcatara sections can be easily removed and refitted to suit the support needed.

There's more than half a centimetre in headroom between the two buckets - the sports ones make you feel like you're in the clouds! Where did you get that measurement from?

My GT4 has the newer p3 buckets and my Spyder has the older p11 folding buckets.
