Do you see it as a moral responsibility to ensure everyone in the world sees everything the way you want them to and if they don't to personally vilify them .. repeatedly?
Interesting. I'm sure that tell's us a lot about you. Life must be very unsatisfying and stressful.
Enjoy.
You took umbridge at me pointing out that you made a statement which is clearly pertinent to the matter under discussion and WRONG. It was a simple as that. I wasn't expressing an opinion - just stating a matter of fact. I would hope that everyone would see incontravertable facts in the same way as I do.Interesting. I'm sure that tell's us a lot about you. Life must be very unsatisfying and stressful.

So you are agreeing that ratios that high are crap - even though they are actually lower than the manual Porsche and the Corvette is much torquier and so can pull such high gears much better?
One can only wonder why you feel the need to make things up and peddle your self-important delusions in every sports car thread. These cars are all designed by professional engineers and bought by drivers who appreciate their efforts.I owned the R, the 981 GTS and the gearing did my nut in - it felt like you were driving with a huge elastic band tied to the back of the car in second and third gear. I even went back for a second bite at ownership but it didn't do it for me.
A few things with the GTS 4.0 are problematic for me - it's pretty expensive and getting close to the GT4 / Spyder (nobody goes for a light spec on these) and to really enjoy all of the engine noise, power and speed, you need to be on the track really. If you are going to track it, you might as well get a GT4 etc etc - at least from my point of view. Also, it's not light and it still has the long gearing issue. Of all the cars I've owned in the past 10 years, the gearing with the R/GTS was the worst and I'm a massive manual fan. It's not the fact that it's long but the feeling and sensation you get from it just ruins the fun for me. You can short shift etc but then you are looking at the car from a different ownership criteria in my view. We get you love your toys but lets not kid ourselves here why you enjoy the car. These are no longer the purist enthusiast spec (whatever the hell that means) we all make them out to be.
GTS - yeah, nice car but expensive, heavy and the gear ratios don't work for me. Imagine how good it would have been if that wasn't the case.
I'm being facetious by the way but it's always the same with all these threads. Owners defend their cars and others beat it up. bcr to be fair does at least try to get into the technical details and investigates things further - he sounds like he genuinely cares about this stuff. Sounds like a genuine enthusiast to me.

Which incontravertable facts are you referring to. That is my problem with many on here, they make airey fairey statements rather than actually address the point at issue. And to address the point you mention - the gearchange itself is great - but don't you ever (often?) wish you had a gear between 1st and 2nd or 2nd and 3rd?Danpunch said:

A 4.0 non turbo manual GTS clearly the antithesis of the A110.

But I know which car I’d rather own, Clio switches no thanks......
For you guys collecting - enjoy, but also looking forward to seeing some pics !

Please argue facts. I' m afraid you and rockin and others are strong on making airey fairy unsubstantiated (and personal) criticism - but desperately light on facts. Even when you do (as rockin did about Corvette ratios - a first) you seem to take dead aim on your lower limbs.BCR really should work for the Trump administration given all the

No. And just to put the icing on it I often change directly from 2nd to 4th. It's a very simple matter of learning to drive the car.If you don't like one gear there are plenty more to choose from.

You were strutting about saying no other cars had ratios like the Porsche and I pointed out in words of a syllable or less the world's other most successful sports car manufacturer takes a very similar approach. If these cars are too fast for you that's fine by me - just stop whimpering about it.GTS is without doubt one of THE sports cars of 2020. Another is the new mid-engine Corvette. Both have multi-cylinder N/A engines and blistering performance. You're way out of your depth amongst such company.
How's that Alpine forum coming along? Perhaps you could breathe some life into it's corpse as opposed to wasting oxygen on here.

Just answer the question - you were arguing that the Corvette ratios were crap (despite being lower than the Porsche's and the Corvette having VASTLY more torque to pull them) So the Porsche's must be even worse crap - in YOUR opinion. Do you agree - a simple YES or NO will do.GTS is without doubt one of THE sports cars of 2020. Another is the new mid-engine Corvette. Both have multi-cylinder N/A engines and blistering performance. So WTF did you mean by Bloke on internet with a 4-pot automatic thinks the world's two most successful sports car manufacturers are getting it all wrong.

"Corvette Stingray V8. Here's max speed in all 7 gears (manual car)
1st - 51 mph
2nd - 73 mph
3rd - 106 mph
4th - 151 mph (Had enough yet?)
5th - 185 mph
6th - 185 mph
7th - 185 mph
They've made second gear far too long and fitted two extra gears that nobody needs... "
Just been informed that my car arrives at Edinburgh tomorrow Was hoping I could collect it on Monday, however, thye cant get it turned around by then. They have offered a late evening collection but I've decided to wait until next weekend so I can spend the weekend enjoying the car.
Reading some of the earlier posts I think I've been lucky to get this car. I'd originally put my deposit on a Cayman S in Feb, however, a couple of weeks later I asked how long I'd have to wait if I wanted GTS 4.0. The result was they offered the centre's demonstrator (first one for the dealship) which was due to be delivered late July.

Coldplay are successful. Fine if you like them but it's not a guarantee they make great music. You add nothing meaningful to the discussion with these broad brush general comments.Bloke on internet with a 4-pot automatic thinks the world's two most successful sports car manufacturers are getting it all wrong.
