After spending thousands on a premium watch, would you be happy with a plastic strap?

After all, it does nothing for the rest of the watch... biglaughgetmecoat
What about the Royal Oak Offshore? Best with rubber strap. What about the Nautilus range with rubber strap? What about the latest white gold Submariners with rubber strap? What about the entire Richard Mille range that comes with rubber/plastic strap?

All watches that cost tens to hundreds of thousands and come with rubber/plastic straps.

I'd never change my Offshore for one with full metal bracelet

Taste is a personal thing, trying to convince someone their taste is wrong is a waste of time, its their taste. You pay your money and you make your choice. View both, decide which you prefer, move on.

More importantly (!!) - what are current owners views on the 20mm Vs 10mm ride height options?

Mine will be used for every journey possible, long and short, so am provisionally going for 10mm - but how are people finding the 20mm drop?

Just picked up my 718 T at the weekend and was nervous at the -20mm PASM . Had only driven a 718 GTS with -10mm PASM. I am very pleasantly surprised by how comfortable the -20mm suspension is. I was also concerned about getting up my driveway with a steeply angled approach - need not have worried as it gets up without grounding. The suspension is a revelation- its way better than the 981 that I had on standard suspension with no pasm so far as comfort concerned but equally it provides an extremely sporty ride with stunning handling.

What a load of condescending drivel.  It is the 4.0L NA engine that differentiates this GTS so if you think the feel good factor about the engine will subside then you would be better to consider a cheaper 4 cylinder variant and you will have plenty budget left for extended leather and other cosmetic enhancements.

I've had numerous cars with and without extended leather and the only time I think about it is when selecting a cleaning product.  It adds nothing to the driving experience and very little to the ownership experience.
knock yourself out with cheap looking plastic dashes. Go for it. I'm not stopping you am I. Hats off tat you don't let it be a concern. Best regards

Thanks, just worried it's a little firm for every day mundane use as opposed to just a weekend toy? Will ask the OPC to see if I can arrange a back 2 back test.

Cheers

I have ordered 10mm, as will use most days

It is not about the stitching, it is the premium feel one gets in the cabin with the leather (the stitching is a by-product).

Hey if you like spending that amount of money on a new car only to have plastic everywhere in the cabin, and to not see the value for approx £2% more of the total car price that the extended leather option brings to the party, fair enough.

the focus on 'its all about the engine' will subside, 6 months, 6 days, whenever, and you'll be wanting where you sit to look like it justifies the price paid.

But hey, knock yourself out with cheap looking plastic dashes. Go for it.

Agreed wholeheartedly there thanks.
Wonder what Mr Julian drives or has ordered???
I am extremely happy with my Racing Yellow car(pictures posted a couple of pages ago), complete with easy clean and attractive plastic dash, rear wiper and storage net.....also thanks to the folks who provided encouraging and complimentary comments to the pics

The car thus far has provided 700 miles of smiles and where I'm sure the grin will be even bigger when I can start to up the revs a bit.

Fill your boots Mr Julian, With people like you driveling and nitpicking. I doubt I will be returning to this thread.

I must say that in the right car the leather dash looks great and i personally wouldn't get a GTS without the GTS interior pack, however, you are making quite sweeping statements regards cheap looking plastic dashes.

Many a GT3RS, GT3, Cayman R with a plastic dash that looks absolutely right in the drivers car that they are. You have to remember that your opinion on somebody else's specification is irrelevant and is just not cricket to disrespect peoples car choices, it's akin to calling somebodies wife ugly to their face, you just wouldn't do it.

You will make more friends in here if you have a more open mind.

Indeed. I have plastic in the 7.2 RS and full leather in 7.2 GT3 and the Touring. I like it for the road focused cars and prefer plastic for the RS as it looks closer to the 7 Cup car

I've ordered -20mm for mine (and it'll be a daily driver) basically because I don't want to miss out on the handling / looks, and I'll just deal with whatever challenges it poses. I can't see 10mm difference making enough practical difference to matter, so I've just gone with it....

-20mm on my GTS

18 months and over 10k miles in and used 6 to 7 days a week with no issues

If I make the move to a 4.0 will 100% go with -20mm again.

Was flapping between the 2 myself and went for the -20mm, so glad I did. Looks great, rides great and no issues.

I drove a -10mm at the Porsche experience at Silverstone and couldn’t really tell the difference in handling, but it did look different, noticed the extra gap in wheel arches.

Unless you have a really steep drive or extremely vicious speed bumps (I’ve never been over one I couldn’t manage slowly), then I would go -20mm personally.

Bear in mind that the T rides on different rear springs than the GTS4.0 so go for the latter if you can find ones to test. I had a similar concern and tested the 718 T as it was all I could find to test. The 20mm seemed fine so I went for that. I’ll let you know in Nov when I eventually get my car!

3500 miles now including Scotland road trip with a Speedster and GT4. 20mm ride height and suspension will be fine for day to day use. A little lower to get into but damping and comfort are good.

I'm considering this spec. https://www.porsche.com/microsite/porsche-code/def...

Have I selected the correct options, plastic dash aside?

Looks good but prefer the model destination on the doors.
Looks like the one I saw at Porsche Leicester I saw a week ago
