So far the message I have from Reading following a December GTS 4.0 order is: "Sometime in Q3" (as opposed to pre-sales March/April comms).
I'm trying to understand when is that "sometime".
Good luck trying to get a definite date in the current climate, I fear rough estimates are the best you'll get.I'm trying to understand when is that "sometime".

Spec lockdown dates shift around as production moves around. There's a date in the system for spec lock but this can come forwards as well as backwards with no warning.
The bottom line is you should always have your "final" spec in with your order as late changes aren't always possible. Once spec is locked, it's locked. No exceptions.
Oh I did have my "final" spec in with my order - my last change request was to my "final_final_final_v3" spec The bottom line is you should always have your "final" spec in with your order as late changes aren't always possible. Once spec is locked, it's locked. No exceptions.

Anyone got a python green GTS that is thinking of selling soon or trading in against another car?
I am looking for one.
There's this one on the Porsche site... https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en_GB/718-Cayman-GTS...I am looking for one.

These are not normal times - back in July 2020 - I was not given one week notice of build lockdown for my GTS 4.0. When I contacted my OPC to make a change (black callipers back to red) I was informed it was too late as build was already locked down (in the end I was happy that I stayed with black). Just offering a counterpoint, it might still turn up.
That's a bit naughty as there is no reason for them not to and give you the option of changing spec.Tbh that's the first time ive heard they havent?

I am also happy to beat a dealer trade in price, so a seller and I are both happy. Cuts out the dealer

This happened to me too - fortunately I was happy enough with my original spec (and in hindsight didn't really want to change it anyway, was just fiddling!)
My was keen to point out that final spec should be confirmed as soon as possible, suggesting that changes could delay the build slot or be missed out entirely. Given the impression that not good idea to change and let’s be honest unless it’s a key component we’re all just fiddling!Pjb2003 said:
Their steering wheel was stolen from Halfords.Rojibo said:
So you want, a rare colour, with specific options, for a low price?
Could always just get the steering wheel swapped in that other car, or wait a couple of years.
Swapping steering wheel is an option. Buying a car from someone trading in is another.Could always just get the steering wheel swapped in that other car, or wait a couple of years.
Not really unrealistic.
Getting a good deal from a Porsche dealer is a little harder but I have done it in the past.
I think that for the many supply chain issues we're currently seeing, semiconductor supply shortage being a major one of them, the lack of supply is not going to be resolved for a good couple of years. Coupled with the high demand for the GTS 4.0 in RHD format, you're going to struggle to see any movement in price. I also think there are very few cars in Python about. If you want one anytime soon, something will have to give.
Happy to be proven wrong though

Python. Alcantara. Carbon interior.
Not exactly spec sensitive .
Also want a good priced one. If it is a good price then I will compromise on everything bar the Python
I can wait as I have a GR Yaris coming next month so I don't need two fun cars.
GR Yaris - have you test driven it? I did, twice, back in December, that's because my Spring preorder was due to arrive in January. And I cancelled it. Main reason: the view from the driver's seat is super restrictive, plus smaller annoyances like artificial engine sound and a bit wobbly to drive. So if you are planning to driving it much, try to test drive first before getting it, my advice. Not exactly spec sensitive .
