Just got a message from my dealer, "Good news, the car has successfully completed and has now left the factory! It will now makes it way over from Germany" . So no delays with production (they initially gave an estimated completion date of 24 March, so actually a bit ahead of schedule), but there might still be issues on collection, as you guys are experiencing. At the moment I'm told "4-6 weeks from completion" is when I should be able to collect it, so hopefully by end of April.
I placed my order around ~10 January.
Tried to message you privately but looks like your account doesn't allow it. Would definitely be interested to know privately which OPC this was through - as I ordered in December, and literally no news at all ever since despite chasing every couple of weeks. No proactivity on the OPC's part..

I'm also interested if anyone else who ordered hasn't been offered their PEC day? When I last chased in early Jan, PEC was closed so understand why I hadn't heard anything by then, but I understand it's been open for some time and still not heard anything. Will speak to OPC but keen to know if others have had their PEC day sorted

Starting to think my OPC is well below par....

Hi, my OPC is Porsche West London, at the time of placing the order I called all London-based OPCs (3 or 4 I think) and I went with West London as the salesperson claimed he managed to get hold of one GTS PDK allocation with March build date. Everyone else said late this year was more realistic for delivery, and in fact the same West London sales guy said that all subsequent Cayman/Boxster (GTS or any other trim) would be closer to Q4 this year.
So in short, maybe your OPC isn't bad, and it's not necessarily that you were unlucky either - it's just that I got lucky / had the choice of multiple OPCs to pick from as I live in London...

My 718 GTS 4.0 arrived last week. Obviously had the stop sale due to an “issue”. I’ve found out today that the rods need replacing which is another couple of months wait and that the engine will need removing from the vehicle to fix the issue...

Anybody else experienced this? If so what’re your thoughts?

My December GTS 4.0 order is still dead silent. No updates from the dealership for the past month. I managed to snatch a manual 981s though.

My old 718 GTS was on P Zeros and they were fine. Bit unpredictable in the wet but I thought the steering feel in the dry was very very good (leagues ahead of any 981 or 991.1). Steering on the 718 GT4 is only marginally better/more feelsome.

I like JayEmm but think he is completely wrong on this one, perhaps the P Zeros didn't work in the conditions he drove in. Can't think of another modern sports car I've driven that has steering anywhere near as good as the 718 GTS. Then again I haven't driven a McLaren or modern Lotus
steering speed and directness are not the same as steering feel.

and pretty much any tire will perform OK on UK roads in the dry. it's in winter, when it's almost impossible to get any heat into the tyres with regular road driving, that the Pirellis become a liability, as the reviewer correctly pointed out.

here's some other recent views - https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

but reading through the comments the last few pages sounds like you guys are more interested in Car Play than anything else.

Yes my GT4 also arrived last week to the dealer and it will be "May maybe June" before I get it delivered due to the stop sale. Gutted but prefer it is done before delivery.

Yes like you and many others left waiting for a response.

I was told the bad news by the salesman and that I would receive a follow up call from the sales manager. None as yet.

Been waiting over a year now, so I am not sure what to do, walk away or let them rebuild the engine. I wonder if they rebuild the engine will I ever feel

happy about it. If you reorder it will probably be another year so its all a bit of a dilemma. Good luck to all of us for the right outcome.

Hi

Had a call from the sales manager and he said that the parts would have to be replaced or adjusted ??? Not quite sure how you adjust a sub standard

conrods?? A hammer maybe. He did hint at an engine change but I do not think he really knew. When I asked about some reimbursement for having

my car insured and selling my previous car ready to take delivery of the new one plus the inconvenience of the whole scenario he said that Porsche

would not do anything but the dealership might be able to give a small amount for the wasted insurance.

That’s really poor but typical of Porsche. They know they can sell all they make so are not too fussed on the customer service bit - no loan car etc. Also typical they can’t give anything definitive on the solution. It will always taint the experience. Great cars but .... I’d be tempted to walk away

When my second Macan was delayed by the shortage of PCM chips from Japan because of the earthquake in 2016 we were given a Panamera for 2 weeks and then a C Class from Enterprise until the car turned up 6 weeks later. All paid for by Porsche UK and when we picked it up there was an envelope with some Porsche Shop vouchers on the passenger seat. Maybe things have changed now.

I've posted on the GT4 and Spyder threads for those interested.

Looks like this could be a repeat of the replacement engine scenarios which affected 991.1 GT3s in 2013 2014 where we secured a class action group following the stop sale which resulted in compensation for those with delivered cars sitting at OPCs and free unlimited mileage new Porsche loaners for all concerned. Luckily my car was on the production line in May 2014 when Porsche agreed to the offer and thus benefitted from a new engine there but wasm't delivered until October 2014.

Amyone affected with 4.0 GTS GT4 and Spyder just research the PH 991.1 GT3 thread for further info.

Is this for every 4.0 engine fitted into gt4 ,spyder and gts?
The time scales involved is huge?
I do like the off the record statement, then posted on a Forumbiggrin

I understand it only affects builds from 19th of January 2021 to the 4th of March 2021.

Rennlist claim 14th January to 4th March, but whatever the exact date it's quite a window and potentially covers almost all 4.0 Caysters delivered so far in 2021. I guess how many actually affected will depend if it's a small batch of parts randomly distributed across the cars that need to be tracked down or whether it's a job lot across all builds.

if this issue had happened to mclaren there would have been a Forum and social media sh*t storm. funny how Porsche can get away with these kinds of problems.

That’s because Porsche are proactive, to my knowledge there have been no engine failures, they have discovered internally a quality issue which they are looking to address

If it's an consolation, my time line has been:
Delivered to dealer in October 2020, meant to pick up start of November.
Roll cage not fitted at factory - informed morning of pickup.
Roll cage installed in January, picked up - carpet sets over the roll cage missing. Was promised the carpet sets ASAP.
Nearing April... 2021.... No carpet sets to be seen. Radio silence!

All I can say my OPC have been brilliant. I have rejected the car and they have done me a great deal on another new GTS. Genuinely couldn’t ask for more. It’s my first Porsche and I am seriously impressed with the service given
