I have a PTS slot for a Boxster 4.0 and my head is spinning... can’t decide between signal yellow, olive green or a bright blue like Arrow or Voodoo... HELP

Also love the look of the 718 in metallics like oak green, dark olive or viola / amethyst. But these seem too “serious” for a 2 seat sports car

On the other hand I am 44

What should I do?
I agree with Pete.g - Irish Green. If they let you have it. (If they do, please tell us!)

Did you try adjusting the rubber feet the tailgate sits on, try rotating them, see if that helps.
If not, a visit to the OPC for a warranty fix. smile

thanks for the tip. Rotating them did make the rubber feet shorter, but didn't solve the problem.
On OPC's recommendation, pressing the lid *really* hard did. I was surprised how much force it required, but anyway now it's solved.

I would go for Audi Merlin Purple if i was doing paint to sample. Not going the whole hog and doing leather to sample too? hehe

That's not on the list.

Current shortlist is a 2 part thing. First choice: bright and bold or grownup and classy?

Bright and bold it is between Bahama Yellow and Signal Yellow

Grownup and classy it's between Pantone 296C and Oslo blue

If that’s your four then either of the yellows would be my choice. Probably Bahama. The blues look like they could be stock colours to the average observer. Personally for PTS I would choose a colour that doesn’t have anything remotely similar on the standard list which is why I would go for something like Merlin purple.

When I inquired about PTS when the 4.0 GTS was launched I was told it wasn't available as they were made at the Osnabruck factory in NW Germany. How much are they charging for PTS? It isn't listed on the configurator.

Thanks

I wouldn't go to the expense of paying for PTS and having a Porsche colour. Not a P car I know, but I ordered an Audi painted Bentley Orange Flame. If you're going off piste you may as well do it properly.

There are some Lambo colours that would look awesome on a GTS.

Verde Artemis
Verde Ermes

To name just two.

Come to think of it Orange Flame would look pretty good.

I also own a Mercedes painted Designo Mystic Blue, MB do a very little used red version of this - Designo Mystic Red, which isn't a million miles away from the Cherry red being used on the Heritage Edition 911.

I have a "thing" about colors, you can probably tell.

I'm obviously biased but its got to be Voodoo Blue or failing that Maritime Blue.

I took a Cayman GTS 4.0 for a test drive yesterday, so wanting to fall in love with it and prepped to place an order, even though very long lead times, however, I was shocked at the cabin noise, the engine noise was great but the road noise was shocking.... above 70 a phone call could not happen, at 80 a raised voices required....Is this normal, I tried the A110S and it was much quieter, but not as classy or well finished! Just causing me to rethink!

Buy a Boxsterand you wont notice the road noise ! Seriously though the Porsche 911 and 718 are known for higher levels of road noise than some other marques. It is the price you pay for tighter chassis control. I believe the smaller wheel versions are less affected.

Above 70? Presuming you are outside of the UK perhaps something like a C63 would be more suitable for your motorway cruising requirements?

Although that said I hear Alpine need all the customers they can get...

Good point and I would argue that you should not be talking on the phone while travelling at more than 70 anyway! Call me old fashioned !!

The bright side was I could pretend not to hear my wife! Although my intention was to use it as an every day car, around 15,000 a year... You make a good point on the C63....I just so wanted to love it! Did not appreciate the high road noise ...hey ho!

Road noise in the 718 and 992 is the norm unfortunately. For me it’s not a problem as I mainly use my Boxster T roof down on non motorway roads. Harry Metcalfe particularly mentions the road noise in the 992 here https://youtu.be/DX-XmOqCRuM

I can make a phone call at 70 with the roof down in my 718 Spyder. Just turn the volume up

Well for starters you shouldn’t be driving 80mph so I think that goes to show this car is not for you.

This is definitely normal and is my only bugbear with my 981CS (on 20s). The road noise was not apparent on the test drive. I changed the tyres from Pirelli N0s to Goodyear F1s due to their lower dB rating and this made a marginal difference. However the car is sensitive to the road surface where it’s almost whisper quiet on new tarmac but louder on poorly surfaced stretches.
Despite that I would ‘pull the trigger’ - I’m glad I did!

Yesterday,I too had a test drive in the Cayman GTS 4.0. The engine sound was to die for. Cabin noise was a tad of a concern but then on my way home I compared it to my F82 M4 and was pleasantly surprised that there wasn’t much difference sitting at a steady speed.
My thoughts are looking at residuals values will the car hold its money well give the move to electric cars and the fact of this engine being desirable in years to come? I know it will hold its money so much better than my M4 but would welcome thoughts of others as new to the brand.
