Yes I got 14% off my 4 pot or could have had 5% on the 4.0. I went with the 4 pot as had PDK Too many manual 4.0 will be hard to shift in a couple of years and of course it’s no quicker than 4 pot PDK. So why pay 5 figures more for a car that might or might not sound better. Nobody knows with emission and EU noise controls how it will sound. So it’s just a 5 figure punt !

Unless I’m missing something this is a terrible decision. The 4pot is a disgraceful sounding engine and your 9% edge is going to be mullered.

I agree...friend of mine just bought a delivery miles Boxster 2.5 GTS PDK with a very high spec for £58k (list price was £ 78k)...some real bargains out there now.

Doesn’t worry me in the slightest. Love the car prefer it to the GT4. I think you will find it’s the slower 4.0 manual that might be difficult to sell particularly as people seem to be skimping on the important options

Very doubtful.
You would think so but I have already been offered a minimum 5% discount for a July delivery.
Would you mind PM/mailing me the OPC in question?

Genuine question... how do people find these sort of deals? Ring round numerous dealers and ask what they will offer as a discount, and see if any bite? Or are they cars actually advertised by OPCs at those sort of prices?

If I could get that sort of discount off a Cayman (happy with 2.5) I would be interested.

[sorry, thread diversion]

I rang around a number of dealers, seems like a lot of cars were registered dec 19 but the general discount seems to be around 10%. Couldn’t find any dealer offering 20% let alone the 25% mentioned in the post above. Biggest discount I could get was just over 19% and that was off a manual cayman T which I’m guessing was because of it being a manual and was now 4 months old. When I messaged the the people who posted about the discounts I never got any replies. Maybe por5che can tell us which OPC his friend dealt with...

Is that a misstype? £78k on a Boxster, did you mean £70k?

Not a miss type, it was a genuine discount but possibly helps that his wife works at the OPC...so maybe some extra staff discount added? Whatever the reasons it does prove that big discounts are now possible on certain models.

Appreciate the response, that's not really comparing apples with apples IMHO. Result for the purchaser though, they got a bargain there.

It's great. But will the naysayers still be happy when their more expensive NA6 gets smoked by a tuned F4T? laugh

Is the 5% discount also a friends and family deal?

No, plenty of reports of 5% discounts being offered on these manual cars. Looks like most buyers are happy to wait until 2021 for the PDK.

Porsche ownership on the whole has never been about numbers there are plenty of cheap cars that would smoke a Porsche! Porsche ownership has always been very emotive purchase for the many so the car that stirs those emotions will always be the winner in the future desirability stakes so in this case the N/A flat6 wins!
I am sure the f4 turbo is a great car and probably excellent for every day use but so is a Golf!
But I do feel sorry for those who have lost a large chunk of value of the their nearly new cars but you go in to any kind of expensive car ownership with eyes wide open and it most likely has happened to most of us at one time or another, for me I bought a brand new 986S and it lost nearly 70% of its value in 5 years a lesson learned!
