I'm not a fan of black wheels either though I think they do go well with a few exterior colours, Carmine Red and Shark Blue in particular.
I went for platinum on our Gentian GTS and still love it:
Gentian or Aventurine with black wheels just don't work for me and really dull the car down.
We're all different and there are no right or wrong answers.

I’m on exactly the same thought process. I had the satin black wheels on my Spyder and they got lost in the overall design and I wasn’t a fan, but you’re right they are part of the GTS design and everything else on the car matches.
I’m still toying with Platinum wheels. I’m going Shark Blue now (we finally settled on that colour, third time lucky) and wheel colour is the final thing. Don’t have long before it locks.
I went for silver wheels on my GTS(midnight blue). Dark exterior colours work well with silver wheels. Platinum wheels match silver cars. Black wheels go well with yellow and other bright colours. Personal preference no right or wrong option for wheel colour. I have a little colour OCD so I try and match wheels with the colour of the car.
Thinking about it more (and I do have other things to worry about), there would be little point in selecting platinum wheels on my spec, given the rest of the outside is all black accents like all GTSs, although i've kept the rear PORSCHE badge in silver.
I think with Shark Blue, it's either satin black or silver wheels. Interior-wise I've gone with crayon stitch and seat centres on black leather, blue seatbelts, brushed aluminium trim. There's a a link on silver from the inside, so it would work.
This is what I ordered in case anyone wants to know, this will be locked in late July I'm told.

Only things I am thinking of changing is wheel colour and headlights. Not sure I need LEDs and I had the black Bi-Xenons on the last car and they were very good, and save £500.

Always good to see another persons take on the options, I feel vindicated with the model designation deletion and the addition of the smoking package - I think these tidy up both the exterior and interior. Not sure I would swap the LEDs for Xenons, but I'm not aware of which option actually provides more light.

I think I'm happy now with the wheel colour, but I'm still undecided on exterior colour and the GT steering wheel. I feel like I should be going with a metalic or special colour, but I've flip-floped about from Shark, Carmine, Gentian and GT Silver. With Guards I can have everything I want spec wise including the Burmester (which I really want). If I go fancy colourwise I feel like i need to lose some other options just to keep the price semi-reasonable. Really struggling with that.
First world problems eh?

Very nice spec. I see you have kept the model designation on the doors. I deleted the model designation from the rear bumper and the doors and I think it looks cleaner. I also went for the PORSCHE logo in satin black as there is no other silver coloured trim on the car. Personal preference of course. I think with Shark Blue, it's either satin black or silver wheels. Thanks. I'll be adding my own rear badge as I don't like the 718 script. I'll have a decal made up saying 'Cayman GTS' in blackPorsche GB kept their python green press car with the silver PORSCHE logo and I thought it looked alright when I saw it.

Agree the 718 script is all a bit OTT.... If there was an option just to say Cayman GTS or GTS 4.0 I'd have ticked it. Let us know if you work out how to achieve this.

I removed the rear badging and replaced it with simply ‘GTS’. I think it looks much neater.Porsche GB kept their python green press car with the silver PORSCHE logo and I thought it looked alright when I saw it.
The Porsche badging on my car is silver, which looks ok, but I’d much prefer it black. I looked at having it changed but it involves removing the rear bumper so plan b is application of plastidip in a satin black.

what do we make of the Side Window Trims and Window Triangle Trims painted in Black (high-gloss) option. This is my latest thinking: http://www.porsche-code.com/PP27UWT9

Anyone else think it looks a bit plastic and cheapens the look of it?
You can see a window trim comparison around 24:40 min mark

I called in at my OPC to go through spec for mine which will hopefully be coming in Oct. I got up to £79k on configurator and came home slightly perturbed by that as it’s a few k more than I’d like. Have since pared it to £75k with all they things I want on it (GT Silver, PDK, LED) plus some nice to haves. This is my latest thinking: http://www.porsche-code.com/PP27UWT9

If you can justify spending £15k in options, to get your car perfect for you, I can’t fault you…. I felt like I was getting a nose bleed though!

On my spec i've added loads of interior leather touches, probably pointless but it's what I want and that added £3k.
Just go in with your eyes open and fully aware of what matters to you, the car will drive exactly the same with no options as it would fully loaded.

If you break it down there's a lot of options that add no value, but are nice to have as you say. From the spec above, i'd never want the speed limit indicator or the lane change assist because neither of them were useful to me on my last car. You can lose PDLS+ and drop to PDLS and not lose much either (the light is almost identical), and that's saving you £1200 already between those.

It really is horses for courses, I had the speed indicator on my 991 and found it really useful and it’s only a couple of hundred quid, ditto folding mirrors and auto dimming mirrors. I like the look of the LED much more than the xenon’s and whilst it’s mainly aesthetic that’s the one thing on the exterior that’s a must have.On my spec i've added loads of interior leather touches, probably pointless but it's what I want and that added £3k.

I’m really struggling to justify the GTS interior - I really can’t see why it’s worth it! But, I do want a leather dash as the plastic one looks cheap and naff to me and I really liked it in the 991. The OPC tell me that the GTS interior is sought after and adds a premium used. I’m buying it as a keeper so not too fussed about that.
I agree, you go with what works.
I’m kinda interested if anyone here has gone full blown ‘poverty spec’ and what they managed to keep the option list spend down to!
