I thought the rebuilt ones were built between 12/20 to 03/21?

After thinking about the delay for a few days I decided that not having a car until March was likely, at best, going to be a pain in the arse. I've cancelled the order and bought a used GTS4.0 from an excellent independent (tierone) and saved myself a small fortune. It's not even that close to what I had specced but certainly makes a statement. At least it has the LED lights and folding sports seats, which I do fit. The spec will not be to everyone's taste, especially if you're not a fan of black. But, the paintwork has been corrected and ceramic coated and looks stunning. It has a full OPC history and has covered 6kmiles, so no run in period and no 2k first year OTR costs.

He's already booked into JZM for an alignment. A few goodies will be ordered from the OPC over the weekend and I'm contemplating some P4S tyres. I don't have an issue with PZeros but the later ones don't appear to fit all that well and the P4S'es we have one the Alfa are very good. I also need to get some 'Porsche' side decals to break up the black.

Roll on Saturday.

Looks lovely, although I would treat it to having the rims resprayed silver to breakup the black a little! Cant wait to see the mods you do with it

Thanks for the comments folks! Much appreciated smile

The car is fantastic. TierOne Automotive were a joy to deal with and the finance matches what Porsche had offered me. I've spoken with Porsche and my deposit will be returned some time next week. It's all been handled very professionally so far.

This thing was optioned to the hilt and I get what folks are saying about the black. I had the same reservations. But, in person, it works. So far anyone who has had a good look have all said to leave it as it is.

If folks are interested here is what it came with

Metallic black
Satin black Porsche logo
LEDs
Folding side mirrors
Gloss black window surrounds
Auto dimming mirrors
GTS interior pack in Crayon(Chalk)
Carbon folding bucket seats with painted harness hoops
Heated seats
Multi function and heated steering wheel
Porsche logo on the centre console
Smoking package
Passenger net
Bose
Cruise
Parking sensors front and rear with reverse camera

I think that's it. It's booked into JZM for an alignment at the end of the month and they'll see if they can lower the drivers seat a little but it's honestly fine as it is. A little lower would be nice, perhaps?

Cheers,
Dan

That does look like a decent spec smile

We were faced with black/black car, but bottled it.
Too much black for us, so we asked OPC, and they swapped the wheels from a new Boxster 4.0 they had sitting in the showroom smile

Are those wheels slightly gold if not mistaken? Breaks it up nicely!

Porsche optional Aurum colour. So yes, they are pretty gold.
Black / Gold always looks tasty on a sports car imho.

So, had the email today from my OPC that my CGTS is currently scheduled to leave the factory on the 18th of October and it's ETA to the dealer is showing the end of this month.

I can expect early November delivery.

Can’t say how thrilled I am. Took around 13 months from the point of placing a deposit.

Does anyone have any recommendations for insurance companies?

My advise is do some serious shopping round. So called 'Specialist Porsche Insurers' can be more expensive than the high street providers and ensure you give then details of every option you have fitted. I'm with Admiral and I told them of every option I had fitted. It didn't increase the premium any from their online quote but it is best to let them know.

If you plan on tracking the car then you'll probably need the afore mentioned specialists.

Definitely no track days.

I’ve used Admiral before for BMW M cars and found them reasonable. I’ll see what that meerkat fella says on tinternet! :-)

I've just been through this.

As above Admiral is v competitive if you don't want to do track days.

Of the brokers, Classicline were more competitive than most. More expensive than Admiral but some track day cover included. Carbon (affiliated with Porsche insurance) were relatively close to Classicline. Adrian Flux miles out.

Admiral very competitive, some £200 more a year than for our family wagon (a Dacia Duster!). Esure and Sheila’s Wheels even less, just £100 more than for the Duster.

I don’t know why I’m surprised as the 991.2S I had a few years ago was cheaper to insure than the BMW M140i I traded in for it.

If you qualify for SAGA Insurance (I do, only just!), it's worth checking them out.

Decent cover for our new GTS for just over £300. In fact if we still had our previous base 718C, it was going to be just under £200.

I also qualify for Saga. £360. Quite unbelievable, but as always you only find out how good a policy is if and when you need it.

Wow. That’s cheap! £500 is the cheapest I can find so far.

A couple of years until I qualify for SAGA insurance, but I’ll keep them in mind.

My CGTS has finally arrived at the dealer 14mths after ordering! It looks stunning, but disappointed it’s on Pirelli not Michelin. Will need to swap them out at some point.

Dealers thinks the car could be impacted by a Stop Campaign due to Bose but will see soon. Fingers crossed it’s not

We only switched to SAGA this year. For about five or six years before that we were with Elephant who were very reasonable too.

At one point we had our 2018 Cayman base and the wife's then 2016 Yaris insured with Elephant. The premium on the Yaris was more expensive.

Apparently, some cars with Bose (maybe mine) shipped with some parts missing and cannot be delivered until some parts arrive.
