Thanks all. It’s Carmine Red, and it really looked better in the flesh than I expected. It’s getting a lot of attention, not sure if that’s a good thing yet tbh!

Will report back on the Xenon PDLS. The lights themselves actually look great with the black background.

Here it is! I love it!! Feels a properly quality car. Up to 73 miles already, and not that it matters but it’s doing 31mpg somehow.

Pretty well set up already. App won’t show mileage or fuel level yet though. Also not sure whether I have auto main beam function with the Xenon PDLS or how to set the Individual driving mode.

Lovely Matt congrats, please can we have some interior pics too! Annoying porsche dont let you have the nice lights

Re-smokers package, As always very helpful, thank you.

Any views on PASM 10mm vs standard 20mm? I can see a lot of cars have the 10mm option added
My thoughts as I've had both.

My base had the PASM (10mm drop) and the car was firm but not uncomfortable.

Current GTS has SPASM (20mm drop) and I was really really concerned it would bottom out however, I've not had any issues up to now. Speed bumps and car parks are fine. My wife also says the SPASM ride is much better than on PASM.

TBH,you wouldn't notice the difference between the 10/20 mm drop unless you parked them side by side.

10mm drop

20mm drop

Congrats! That looks awesome - Carmine is a fantastic colour… although maybe I’m a bit biased hehe

Thanks everyone. Still can’t believe I own it, this is my first Porsche

Decided not to go PPF but do want to get a good ceramic coating whilst it’s still new. Any recommendations in the Northants area?

As requested some interior shots

My first Porsche was a cayman GTS so I know the feeling well. And perhaps the best all round road car I have has providing you don't need the rear seats of the 911

918 miles since 2nd September, truly love the thing and I'll be sad to see it go once the Macan GTS arrives

Go get the front end PPFd. I had my prestine 982 GTS three weeks and got a real nasty stone chip in the front that nearly made me cry.

Agreed, as a minimum I'd ppf the front bumper, side sills/intake area and front of the rear wheel arches - they are pretty soft and subject to road rash.

Xpel do pre-cut templates for these areas too.

Does PPF actually stop the chip showing, or just it doesn’t damage the paint? Has everyone PPF’d their cars?

Yes, got mine PPF'd. I had a Cayman S for two years before I got my new GTS in August and was really annoyed/surprised by the number of chips the S picked up. Literally had the GTS transferred from showroom to PPF guy in covered trailer without me even driving it. Got front bra, bonnet, wing mirrors, A Pillars, sills, rear arches and front part of roof done (and yes, you do pick up chips there, my TVR has a nasty one there). Some people say instead of PPF you can just re-paint it etc. which you can until the first post paint chip drives you nuts.

Yep. PPF done here too.
Bonnet, bumper, wings, side scuttles, wing mirrors and behind the rear wheels. The section below the side intakes gets properly battered.

Can I ask about price? Was this done through Porsche or separately arranged?

Any recommendations on location?

It’s not a magic forcefield of protection but it’s going to stop most of the small chips completely.

Also, when the PPF takes a hit and gets damaged, it can self heal by applying hair dryer levels of heat.

It stops paint swirls from washing also.

I have to now get my paint repaired to a good level (but not repeat) before I can get PPF installed.

I recently went to see a 2017 car that was being sold that had at least 50 small chips and minor scuffs. I didn’t buy that car because it was so bad looking. You can get stone chips anywhere on the car, this one even had them on the rear spoiler.

PPF then get your ceramic applied over the top.

I had PPF applied to my new GT4, after seeing the 'rash' other 718s had picked up even just from general road use. The rash I saw wasn't just isolated on the front bumper, but the sills and rear bumper's trailing edges can get hammered if not protected.

I had a custom XPEL package fitted which was somewhere between the normal 'track' and 'full' packages so I had rear bumper protection on the trailing edges and some other areas, as well as the normal 'track' pack. I had it installed at a local specialist installer, for significantly less money than my OPC/Topaz wanted.

Details/pics a few posts down on the 2nd page of my thread here: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Personally I don't bother on Porsches given the cost of ppf vs front end respray

I won't make the same mistake on a triple layer Ferrari again though...
