What's wrong with the basic lights? I hear they are very good?
Basic bi-xenon’s are 25W and are reportedly v. Poor - so low power they don’t require washers by law - the Bi-xenon with PDLS are 35W and reportedly v good (comes with washers as light output is > 25W and law requires washers > certain lumen.
LED PDLS / PDLS+ are equal / better than 35W bi-xenon and are very good - (i had LED PDLS+ on my 718S and they were excellent - but tbh, I found the HBA a bit tardy in activation..

The basic (25W) Bi Xenons simply don't provide enough illumination, if you drive on unlit roads you'll find you are significantly speed limited by the lack of visibility. The 35W version help. However, on a reasonably expensive new car the lack of decent LEDs is hard to accept unless you almost never drive at night. The LEDs also seem to be less prone to the headlight crazing, not an insignificant concern if you are looking at the car as a longterm proposition and given the cost of headlight replacement.

I get on absolutely fine with them in my base 718 Cayman, and will happily spec the same for my GTS 4.0 when the allocation comes through.I'm disappointed that my first 2 choices of colour (Carrara White, followed by Aventurine Green) are both discontinued. It seems PTS is gone as well, at least it was last time I checked the configurator.
I finally got to drive a Cayman 718 GTS 4.0 last week (only for 10 minutes, stole a bit of lunch break in one at PEC Silverstone). I'm feeling less concerned about the colour now, there are still a few I could love. Price rise seemed inevitable to me anyway, and at about 6% is lower than I had expected, so hopefully I can still afford one when my allocation comes and gets built.
Main thing is, I really liked the car, and I'm even more excited about the prospect of owning one.

yep it's really truly Amazing how people in the 70"s managed to travel back from the pub after 6 pints on a dark night without crashing through a hedge or running into each other.Edited by M11rph on Monday 3rd April 21:43
seriously people need to drive something pre 2000 to get a grip of how good modern ( yes even basic lights) have come on, I have been caught coming home in the dark from classic car shows in some of my old stuff , now that is a wake up call, full beam on my 1976 kadett Coupe has less visibility than the side lights on my modern cars, even a year 2000 Mitsubishi is like going back in time with how poor they are, Maybe I have just been lucky but to date I have managed to make it home unscathed , I do eat all my carrots though.
I'm loving the upgraded configurator, but having played around a bit I couldn't see PTS anywhere.
I'm finding it slightly positive that Aventurine Green is so popular as a choice, I have it on mine and it is a fabulous shade. However as it has been pulled from all Porsche cars is there anything untoward to be concerned about? Sort of like the MIami Blue thing a few years ago when it was puled because of potential fading?

I guess they pulled Aventurine as they saw lots of people had ordered it so they thought "Why not make it PTS and get these mugs to pay us another £7k on top of the £5k price increase". If there was an issue with it why is it now PTS?
The more I think about it the more uncomfortable I am with a £12k price increase, especially when used 4.0 GTS have now dipped into the upper £50k's. The used prices will never align with the latest increase.

This is the only one I can see in the 50s. And the advert looks faked up to me….The more I think about it the more uncomfortable I am with a £12k price increase, especially when used 4.0 GTS have now dipped into the upper £50k's. The used prices will never align with the latest increase.
The first images are from a Porsche approved dealership, yet it says private sale. If it is Porsche approved then the price is too cheap. Looks like a fishing expedition….something is fishy, that’s less than the price of a 2.5 that’s older……

Well they were pissed up so probably drove a lot slower….. JeffC said:
Crazy really that they thought back them it was acceptable and imagine beer was stronger than what we get today , after 5 pints I would need more than PDSL + to navigate myself home
Actually beer was generally a lot weaker. Most people drank mild / bitter at 3-4% rather than premium strength fizzy lager at 5%. Big difference.barchetta_boy said:

I remember as a 17 year old getting in a car for a lift into town with the driver was bladdered and was in double figures beer wise. Mid 80s. Mental. This looks quite a cool spec with the buckets if anyone looking for a loaded PDK one.

Although I know some don’t like buying Scottish cars.

Perhaps I have a parrot heading my way but what makes you think it is Scottish? It's being sold by OPC Preston.https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en-GB/details/porsch...
