Isn't there an 'add-on' part a UK company sells/installs that will convert the PCM to Apple car Play allowing functionality of modern Apps, Waze etc?
I did this to my Cayenne 3.1 PCM and it has transformed the experience. Wireless Apple car play right there on the screen with no loss of functionality of the PCM. Just toggle between PCM navigation and car play with the nav button.

I bought mine from AlliExpress for about $300 and had it fitted relatively quickly

There’s a 12v and 3.5mm aux in in the glove compartment. I’m assuming that’s standard as my car is poverty spec.

Doesn’t drop Bluetooth at all for me, works seemlessly. Occasionally (once a month?) I might have to reconnect my phone to the system in the phones Bluetooth menu, but that’s a 5 second job when setting off.

I have the joyeauto from this link

joyeauto

They have been evolving the product over the last year so some of the info on the internet is no longer accurate. Apparently, the people that designed it are in Hong Kong and are very willing to answer questions. Also, search for joyeauto on YouTube and you will find the installation videos. I found the install relatively easy but I will admit to having a technical background but the install isn’t difficult. I think my background just gives me the confidence to crack on.

Excellent, thank you, I've come across them before and I'd be ok with the install too.

All you need is 3.5mm for the aux and a power source. In theory you could just charge the thing in your house and run it off the internal battery but no idea what the battery life is and frankly that’s a ball ache.

It will definitely charge via 12v with a USB adapter. As I say, works on my 2013 Cayman so I see no reason it wouldn’t work on your newer one.

Or spend a bit more for a full Apple CarPlay/Android auto solution as others are suggesting. If you’re only arsed about music though, that Bluetooth adapter works fine.

Sorry think I might have been unclear. Hopefully a pic makes it obvious. Bluetooth in the aux on bottom, power for the Bluetooth via 12v above.

So you’ve got the Bluetooth unit. This strictly speaking needs only a 3.5mm aux in. But then, it would be reliant on its battery power so you’d have to take it out of the car periodically to charge.

You get round this by charging the Bluetooth unit direct from the car. For that, you need a 12v socket. The Bluetooth unit has a port for USB type C.

That’s all totally separate from charging the phone. As I say, hopefully pic above makes it clear (just ignore my iPhone cable).
