I sold a 3k full spec 981 car in Aug for £80k, today £85k buys same spec 7k 718
What’s a 3k and 7k?

Of course. Haha. Makes perfect sense now you’ve said it.

I’m not sure that buys a 7K car. Maybe independant but OPC prices are still more or less the same for ‘average’ mile cars at the moment. There are a few high end mile cars that are around that money though. These cars are cosseted and generally used sparingly, therefore if you buy into one with a mindset to retain its ‘best’ value you need to drive it infrequently or for short journeys……..this however equals no fun! Cars always devalue at this time of year. Spring time will determine how adjusted the market really is.

One of the few I have saved. That colour has really grown on me. I love Miami Blue but I don’t think it’s worth the additional money needed.

Spec is right.

Yup, hell of a spec (and I love gentian blue).

The spec will protect residuals - as I’m sure you know they are very spec sensitive.

This is the car recently sold on Collecting Cars for £81k plus fees (so £85.050) which means they’re selling it a loss of £55, and that’s before transport, valeting and costs for adding a warranty.
Hmm, something not right about this one…

6% buyers fee on CC up to £6k so it would have been a final price of £85,560. So if it is the same car then it’s up already for a loss of £565 as you say without the additional costs. Very strange!

This means the underbidder could now go and buy the car from Ashgood for less than it would have cost them to buy it from CC, and get the benefit of dealer assurance.

Ah my mistake, fees are indeed 6% and not 5.
Makes it even worse!

The text says 'sale price' not 'winning bid' - which in the past suggests the amount quoted included the buyers fee.

Suggests the car was a bargain at £81k inc fees.

This would suggest otherwise..?

Ashgood are no fools they are probably adjusting to what the market is really doing rather than waiting for what people think it could do. Better to clean the decks with a 500 pound loss over a 5000 pound loss.

Games are being played by all dealers at the moment, I just heard a cracking story this evening basically a dealer texting a customer say if they sold there car out of the network is will effect them massively. To me that’s a sign of desperation by the dealer. The said dealer isn’t willing to make a sensible buy it price on the car and will apparently only SOR for half the profit. Not my words the car owners 🙄

Sad times ahead

I don’t think that the market has changed that much in a week. A dealer would plan at least a few grand profit so wouldn’t instantly be selling for a loss. Only options are either that the sale price is without fees as suggested above or there is an issue with the car. Probably the former…

Most sold cars list the “winning bid” - the highest bid during the auction, and my experience is the 6% Fee is then paid on top (well direct to CC).

In the case of this GT4 - the expression used is ‘sale price’, which in the past has implied this was a deal done outside the auction etc.

Id suggest a deal was done that mean AG ended up paying the sale price only £81k

The buyer worse case received £76,400 (sale price less 6%) but more likely CC discounted their fee to make the deal happen - which is set out in their terms as something they are allowed to do.
