The servicing is straight forward sort of, or the time line is.
Porsche stoped the fixed priced stuff end of 2019.

A lot of people during covid had cars serviced and were shock at the new 2020 prices, a lot of people on this forum posted old fix priced service costs from 2019 to the forum saying how wrong I am.

Today there is no fixed priced system in the UK, phone Porsche GB and ask.

So OPC again make it up and give you a price for a minor service or a major, then you choose your bolt on on top of that, be it belt, plugs, brake fluid, AC etc etc. The base prices are not the end prices. And costs feel to me 20/30% up over 2019 prices.

The £760 might be every thing, but I doubt it knowing how Porsche are charging in 2020.

VW do it, I asked for a 4 year major inc every thing for my golf, got the car back , no brake fluid done as I did not add it !!! RIP off *********.

Any way £760 still is a rip off for oil and one belt !
All the owners who responded to your last lot of misinformation on this topic quoted actual costs incurred in 2020 - mine included, all were around £900. Fact.

Don’t understand why you persist in posting figures that are made up or why you are so exercised about the running cost of cars you don’t even own.

Of course other models/makes cost less to run and if you don’t like the OPC cost an Independent will usually be cheaper - but I don’t think that’s a surprise to anyone with a bit of common sense.

Seems to me that Sid has wisely researched the future running costs before buying so unlike some won’t be continually bleating about how expensive OPCs are.

Even if that’s your opinion (which you’re perfectly entitled to), they won’t change just because you think it’s poor value and no one is forcing you to use them are they?

But in the meantime please don’t just make stuff up and represent it as true.

I actually dug out the running costs for my 968 and 986 Boxsters going back almost 25 years now which I’ve still kept, and guess what when indexed to present value and considering that servicing then was annual or at lower mileage intervals (and in those days people actually drove their cars!) - if anything they were more expensive to run! And that includes the extended warranty. The exception is tyres - paying the same now in 2020 money as then so 30 - 40% cheaper.

£900 a lot higher than £760 quoted !!

Why is it upsetting you ?
Prices have changed that’s a fact.
Porsche do like to quote the basic price

So why was yours £900 is it’s fixed at £760 ?
  • ***** ;-) you cannot have it both ways.
My 8 year was over £1200, my mates was over £1200 also. My last quote was £8** but I get discount down to £780 odd, but no belt or plugs.
I just did not bother this time round and paid £420 3rd party all inc new set caliper nipples .
My local guy is very busy and says he sees cars now for the 1st service at 2 years old as opc costs have gone daft. You can bet 2021 prices will see a rise again.

No ones had a 6year GT4 service yet so time will tell, I'll phone my OPC for a proper quote tomorrow, inc fluids and belt.

the cheap to run thing is now not as good as it used to be, again 981 is the most expensive, big wheels = tyres prices high, it's in the high TAX bracket, it does sub 20 mpg, and OPC have doubled service costs !! disks are also the larger ones so disks and Pads will be £££, + higher insurance.

Porkers are no longer that cheap to own sports car imo you might have a shock in you keep it in the network, mates just sold his as his OPC wanted someting like £6k to service his car, with tyres and pads, so he part ex it for anew one at a 3rd party !!! £2k of that £6k bill was just the service !
it was NOT even at a major service point !!

If you notice on here a small service is now over £1k !!

if you are a warranty sort of guy keeping a 981 as a fun car costs PA are going to be a lot higher than you might think when you take into account every thing.

ALso you state "Like a manual gearbox for driver involvement. "

at 85mph in 2nd you have zero involvment, on a B road you put it in 3rd and forget about the gears.
Increasingly you neither take the trouble read or understand what other people write nor even remember your own posts.

Unfortunately for you others can remember when you write nonsense - and just so you are clear once again it’s the line here where you (erroneously) claim a minor service on a 981 Spyder was over £1000 that was called out a few weeks back by me and several others.

981 will need the big 6 year service also don't forget soon with belts, and the one after will be plugs etc so 2 services will cost you >£3k at todays daft prices
This from Friday on this thread which you seem to have forgotten you wrote already - I think you’re the one who needs the maths lesson - in my book >£3k for two services averages >£1.5k each - demonstrably rubbish.

And whilst your asking what I get upset by is you representing yourself as some sort of oracle on subjects you don’t know diddly squat about.

I think people get upset as you call it because you really do just make things up for some bizarre reason. You said next 2 services on the car I was proposing to buy were going to cost me over £3k
But I phoned up he garage and they quoted approx £1500 (which in my book is a very reasonable £400 per year for a service ). Yes it may go up if other things need done but that is what you have to put up with if you want to run a 5 year old mini super car

Is the car you’re looking at, at south London?
That’s near me. I could take a look/pics once it stops raining?
Thanks for the offer . If you have time and ONLY if it is not ou your way have a look. The guy I was speaking to was called Joseph.
I have offered what I feel is a fair price for it at £67786. But they want £68,900.
So at present I have cooled my interest as weather has been so wet it has made me realise that , will I really us e it between now and March, so might be wise to take 91R's advice and keep looking as December could be a good month for a bargain. Plus it means 2-3 months that some one else can take the depreciation it.

Auto trader value it as 64k private. So, if we add 2k for warranty and 3k for any costs to bring it to standard, 69k seems reasonable to me.

Have you asked the dealer what work they’ve done on the car?

Just buy it then if it’s so cheap ! Actions speak louder than words :-)

l,ll phone my OPC tomorrow as a £760 major service inc plugs and fluids on a GT car just sounds too good to be true.
If it,s over £1k you can give a tenner to the guide dogs, and if it’s under I,ll give £20.

Yes and the answer was none apart form warranty and 111point check.
Maybe I am being tight but I feel my offer was fair as I am not a fan of black heels so would like to refurbish these. Tyres are at 4mm so nearly 50% worn but pads are only 30% worn
Will reconsider it
Let me now if you go and have a look at it

I have offered them what I think is a fair price considering the time of year and potential use I may get out of it.
Once you phone your dealer phone Porsche Perth as 1. That is where I got my info and 2. I appreciate prices do vary up and down the country

Okay, I’ll recalculate my estimate. 64k + 2k warranty. They’ve not done any remedial work. Add 2k for profit so that’s 68k. Personally I would go to 69k if I really liked it. If it’s in okay condition then I’d stick to 68k.

The car has Cup 2's that have 4mm left as you say. Cup 2's come with 6mm tread when new and not 8mm, so only 33.33% worn.

Interesting recent posts on this thread, I have been keeping an eye on 981 GT4's (as well as 981 GTS') with a view to purchasing one next year.

I saw this dropped below £60k recently - https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202001025...

It's difficult to predict but you would think that in the new year might be the time to take the plunge, with the winter deals anyway plus post-furlough etc it might be time to get a deal done. However I thought prices would drop over summer but ended up selling my year old M5 for pretty much same price as I bought it for so it's proved I know little.
