Ask yourself if you are willing to pay just a bit more relatively for a nearly new higher spec contemporary car with a much better engine which was £10k more new anyway.
Depreciation will probably be similar on both cars.
No brainer decision imo the 718 offers the better value especially when you factor in warranty costs and likely higher running costs on the older car.
What you are saying is what I am thinking . Depreciation will probably be similar on both cars.

Warranty not an issue, I think as newer car has 2 years 2 months older car will have 2 years warranty so pretty much the same. Only issue is that newer car will have newish tyres /brakes etc so less wear and tear
Only issue is it is black and it looks fantastic but I hate trying to keep a black car clean as it is near impossible but t is £10 k oleo list and fully loaded

Save your money and wait.... at this point with the weather turning, and restrictions coming, you arent gonna use the car much anyway, and you’ll just end up resenting making payments on something you can’t get value out of, it’s just going to be an anti-climax.
I’ve found, If you decide to do something like this (emotional) and just do it after a little prudent research that works best. If you over research and attempt to prognosticate, endlessly, you’ll end up disappointed and always thinking the grass is greener.
See this is why I really like PH as you always get the voice of reason and sense coming on and giving you good sound adviceI’ve found, If you decide to do something like this (emotional) and just do it after a little prudent research that works best. what you have said is what is is my other dilemma and I cant get these facts out my head that It may sit outside over winter for next 4-6 months.Payments not an issue as the way I see it it closer to getting paid off
The real question is do I really want a black GT4 ?

I think the question is do you want a 718 GT4, 981 GT4 or a 991.2 GT3 as per your other thread.what you have said is what is is my other dilemma and I cant get these facts out my head that It may sit outside over winter for next 4-6 months.Payments not an issue as the way I see it it closer to getting paid off

Either go test drive them as there are a few around or hold off until next spring. I appreciate you're well up north and there probably aren't that many cars available within a reasonable distance to get to for a test drive but for something like this you may have to travel and for goodness sake please make a decision soon as this is dragging on

No, get a yellow one
No doubt. A loud colour all the better. Despite an OPC offering me yellow Club Sport after knocking £5k off it we were just a little too far apart. Plus I took the call at the airport departing for 3-week holiday so not the best time for man maths to come into play. Had a called a day later when I was on the beach I'd no doubt be in it now!Ended up with a white one Sometimes you have to compromise when personal choice spec comes into play and whilst the 918 seats 'look good' the folding buckets are just sublime and a perfect fit for me. Plus I wanted the heated option.

l,ll phone my OPC tomorrow as a £760 major service inc plugs and fluids on a GT car just sounds too good to be true.
If it,s over £1k you can give a tenner to the guide dogs, and if it’s under I,ll give £20.
Don't want to be petty or bring this thread back to life but I got costs from my 2 nearest dealers for the 4th year (2nd or Major service )If it,s over £1k you can give a tenner to the guide dogs, and if it’s under I,ll give £20.
Aberdeen was £980
Perth was £975
My mate also git charged £980 for his service
But I think you are not totally wrong either as the the owner of one car the needed a service asked this local dealer ( Porsche West London) quoted £1495 for the same service .
Sometime it is nice staying in Scotland
Did you get any prices ?

This thread has not ben updated for a while. Just to say the OPC's seem to be down to just 8 981 GT4's for sale at the moment, the lowest I think we've seen for a good while. Looks like quite a few have been sold in the run up to Christmas and also over the Christmas period. With the track day season kicking off in a few months, I recon more of these will be finding their long term homes.

Official Dealers, 8 maybe so, but in the wild, I count close to 40 981GT4s across AT and PH (allowing for duplicate ads between the two). They will never be rare. This is why I predict that the 981 GT4, one day, in many years, will be less costly to buy than an R

Don't think so the only 987 heading for any kind of future classic status and worth more than its 981 counterpart is the 987 Spyder. The R may come on par with a 981 GTS but will always be below a 981gt4

You answered the question. That the 987 will be the last to receive classic status, then the R will hold strong, far stronger (considering its rarity) to anything in the 981 range. The R may come on par with a 981 GTS but will always be below a 981gt4

The 987.2 Black Edition which is basically a CR same hp , spyder wheels etc but with PASM , infotainment and Xenons but far rarer than a CR but over £10k cheaper!Rarity doesn't always come into it!
As said the only pre 981 boxster/Cayman that IMHO will ever be a classic is the 987 Spyder, any 987.2 manual will have strong residuals though over most of the 981 range

Correction, another one sold so OPC’s are now seven. The R is a real sweet spot, but not as sweet as the 981GT4 ...
I bought mine in 2011 ... 'time of the economic cycle was the reason for their rarity ... they were never limited by either manufacturing capacity or porsche numbers ...
Hence I would never underestimate the fun of a Cayman R ... but as a track machine it doesn't bear comparison to a 981GT4 ... unless you are in the wet at Spa on new Pilot Super Sports

GT4 was the first mid engined Porsche with a 911 engine (I'm sure?)
Landmark moment and why the market went nuts for a while. The R looks like a toy next to one (a fun toy though)
...and I'm saying this as an R owner.
On the flip side I know of several lads ready to jump on the next manual R with buckets that gets listed..but I still think there's a ceiling to what they'll pay before they just go...fook it I'll get a GT4 and be the daddy

I'm looking to purchase a 981 GT4 in the near future. I will be going down the route of a 'Peter Morgan' pre-purchase inspection for peace of mind, but I have seen this advertised, which has peaked my interest. I was wondering if anyone here knows the history of the car? Any info would be appreciated.

I am assuming you got your GT4 sold ? How are you enjoying the 991 Gts?
Also I note prices off all but 2 (both Cat N or Cat S cars) are still above £60K despite what Porsche911R had said . Still makes me chuckle he thought they would be in the low - mid £50K range.
But he has been quiet for a while
