718 Tyre Replacement
Discussion
Have Eagles F1s, not on a 718, but a 986.
Was going to go for some PS4s, but got messed about by a COmpany that supplies goods at a low COST. Needing something at short notice for a Scottish road trip, ended up with Eagles fitted locally. Absolutely love them. Great in the inclement weather, great in the dry, and very reasonably priced. The rears were down to 2mm after a year and 8,500 miles - that's to do with my driving - just replaced them with the same.
Would like to try the French rubber at some time, as they're very well received - wonder how the wear would compare to the Goodyears with like for like driving.

Unfortunately the offer has just finished, but 2 or 3 times a year Costco do £100 off 4 Michelin tyres. I've never been able to find anywhere to beat their prices when they do. Last set I had from them were cheaper fitted than I could even buy them loose from the likes of Camskill.
There was a post last year on the Cayman OC forum that summed up the tyre situation well. Someone asked if there was anything better for their car than the P Zero and the first response was "bare rims". Nail on head for me. I've experience P Zeros in 911, Boxster, Cayman and 911 and on all they have been total crap. The Michelin PS4S is a different league, especially in the wet. I used to run Eagle F1s on my Impreza and they were good. I've not done enough miles on them on a Porsche to say definitively but if I were you I'd go PS4S. Indeeed Mr C. Harris on his Instagram question and answer session the other week basically said they were the tyre to have.
Deal is valid to 30/06, have just tried offer code and it’s work. With cash back it works out to roughly £700 for a set of 4 PS4SThere was a post last year on the Cayman OC forum that summed up the tyre situation well. PS4S are the best I believe, I swapped the god awful p-zeros it came with for *Goodyears at just over 13k and it was a revelation, grip in wet was much improved as was road noise.
Have got over 20k out of the Goodyears so far and they still have plenty of tread, unlike the p zeros.
*I couldn’t get PS4S n rated for 18”s.
Unless changed recently, you won't get MPS4S in 18", just MPS4. Had the GY Eagle Assymmetric 2 on the Evo and now have MPS4. Different car, I know, but I would go for the MPS4 out of the two.Have got over 20k out of the Goodyears so far and they still have plenty of tread, unlike the p zeros.

I think the GYs have moved on a long way from AS2.
Last set I bought, not for a Porsche, were AS5
Interestingly enough the AS2 comes out pretty well against the PS4S:Last set I bought, not for a Porsche, were AS5

I think the development to the AS5 is incremental rather than game changing.
Also lots of bargain priced AS2’s around at Camskill, mytyres.co.uk and the like.
sorry to ask ...but i have a 718 on 18" and my rears are shot at 12k........
i quite fancy putting the goodyears on...seem good value and seem to get good reviews .
question....can i get away with just doing the rears with the GYs and leaving the Pzeros on the front until they are worn out ?
Thanks
...glad i'm not the only one who hates the std tyres....utter crap

Remember if you change the tyres to non Porsche specification then your warranty is void.i quite fancy putting the goodyears on...seem good value and seem to get good reviews .

Just ticked over 13k miles and my Pirelli’s from the factory are down to roughly 4mm so looking to change shortly. These are on 20 inch Carrera Sport alloys.
Have found the Pirelli’s OK and seem to have lasted fairly well - what mileage have people got out of theirs? One point is that the factory 265/35/20 rear and 235/35/20 just don’t seem big enough for the rims and they almost protrude. Fortunately have managed to avoid any kerbing.
What are people’s experiences with the N Spec Michelin PS4’s and Goodyear Eagle F2?
The N spec Michelin PS4S have different sidewalls with much better rim protection to the non N spec version, and also look a lot less stretched over the wheel than the non N.Have found the Pirelli’s OK and seem to have lasted fairly well - what mileage have people got out of theirs? A clear example when it is much better to get the proper N rated version of a tyre.
