North Coast 500. Driving route around the north coast of Scotland starting at Inverness. Did it a couple of years ago and was left with some fantastic memories. Told my lad if I got a Spyder would do the same trip with him.
What are the road conditions like to drive on. Thinking of going up in a GT3 will it bottom out ?The east and north coast are fine. Some of the peninsulas you follow out on the west coast are a little hairy. Even with empty roads the average speeds on these sections is VERY low as lots of blind bends/summits but staggeringly beautiful. You can opt out of some of the narrower single track on the west coast and stay on the main A roads but I’m sure you will be fine. Do it you won’t regret it. Conde Naste magazine rated it as ‘maybe the best road trip in the world’. They are not wrong.
Does anyone have a source for a good map of the NC500 including all of the smaller road options? Those I see online look too large a scale or riddled with "things to do" and "places to visit" as if I'm an American tourist. A section by section guide with mileages, road features and 98 octane petrol stations would be far more useful.
PS just to keep on topic I have a white 981 Spyder too and I'm heading to Scotland at the start of August.

Very good, gotta love the white Spyders, think they're a 2 seconds faster to 100 PS just to keep on topic I have a white 981 Spyder too and I'm heading to Scotland at the start of August.
I think you’ll find Red is the quickest colour for a Porsche........ :-)
Congrats on the car, looks the business. These are so special.
Having done 3 Euro tours in mine, I’m also looking at doing the NC500 as soon as possible. I understand May is a good month, but interested to know what others think.
Enjoy !

No probs Manny, hope you enjoy the car as much as I did. I will certainly be back for a 981 Spyder at some point in the future. Interesting that both of the Spyders I’ve owned have ended up being bought by PHers as my last one was picked up by Taffy66 - must be only petrolheads who own them.
It is an excellent euro trip car, so would highly recommend doing that.

Really nice Spyder that and if its as good as the one i had after you then it'll be brilliant fun..Unfortunately i had to sell mine back my OPC when i picked up my new RS last October..It sold within a couple of days and i still miss it but hopefully will have another at some point..Carrera white best colour on these IMO although i'm slightly biased. It is an excellent euro trip car, so would highly recommend doing that.
