Quick update from me, as of yesterday evening none of the original dates on the system have changed/moved (if the dates are to be believed my car should have entered the dealership!), but there's still no sign/update of the car.

The dealer has once again confirmed to me that they have been told to continue ignoring the dates on the internal system because they are not being updated, and he said he has had several orders physically turn up this week even though the system says they have not yet been built!

Oh and he also reiterated what he said previous (he is in one of the 5 Porsche Retail groups if that makes any difference) about MY23, in that he's been told there won't be one for the GT4.

smile
According to my contact in Porsche, production has pretty much stopped globally due to ongoing parts supply issues and they are expecting at least a 2 month back log. They are still taking deposits, but at this time they can not guarantee you a build slot / date as they don’t know what’s happening themselves.

Has your order been allocated or do you have an unallocated deposit with the your OPC?

Not sure your OPC is telling the truth here.

AFAIK there are no allocations for 2023 and the allocations are usually issued quarterly.

Ask your OPC to show you the vehicle build plan.
I haven’t locked in the spec, does that makes a difference?

I’ll ask about if the order is allocated or not thanks.

Will there be a build plan if it’s not allocated ?

How willing would they normally be to show it to the customer?
If you haven’t signed any paper work yet or been told when you have to get your final spec locked, I would guess you have a un-allocated deposit.

Think so too

For reasons supposedly due to car now being a MY23, the factory cancelled order.

OPC have said factory will give fresh allocation in the next few weeks.

Oh well, smile and wave….

Let us know if they do, but it sounds like that might be unlikely if production is due to end with MY22.

Hi All,

I'm wanting to order a GT4, can anyone recommend a friendly/sensible/approachable dealer to contact please? Or shall I just cold call my nearest?

Try cold calling.

You never know.

Or I'll sell you mine for £120k.

It's a lottery at the best of times, there was a post-Covid window in late 2020 when slots were easy to come by, not now....

I set up a search in Nov21 after selling my Cayman R and waited until a nearly new one came up and bagged a 300 mile Clubsport between Xmas and New Year at close to list having been refused a slot by my local OPC who despite knowing me just weren't in a position to offer me one....

There are lots of these cars tucked away in garages not being used, mine was put into a collection and only came out as part of 992 GT3 "swap"

Buying nearly new will be far easier, from my understanding porsche currently have production challenges due to their supply chain.

This is an interesting concept. A car collection that isn't driven and isn't kept for very long .... and swapped for a brand new one when normal folks are told there are none available ... ?

Still, well done for getting the car you wanted at a sensible price ... I am guessing that you couldn't have done that deal now !

Interested to read your post and genuinely interested to understand your rationale behind “collecting but not using” is it purely to make money? (As surely a big part of owning these halo cars is actually getting them out and driving them). Like I did at 0600 this morning wink

Seriously, if you really want one just a buy a used one. Generally seem 10K above list, and they should hold their money as supply is super dry. Some of you might be waiting for absolutely nothing in return.

Don't know if that is Ben Etive in the background but I parked up at the Beehive in Glencoe and climbed it en route to Skye a few years back.

Magical place for sure.

Invergarry to Skye one of my favourite UK drives.

OPC tells me today that the first step - into the body shop - happened on 30/3, so hopefully finally it’s all underway, but I’m at the point where Im not sure I’ll believe it until I get the call saying it’s landed on UK shores.
Well, all on course for me, OPC advises build complete 5th April, car is awaiting ferry over to UK….hopefully not a PnO jobby ??

I think you are confusing me with the original owner, I bought it from the OPC after he had returned it with 300 miles on the clock, I've been tracking with Chris W and others here since 2005 so not guilty!

Hi Chris, it takes all sorts I suppose and who am I to comment? I haven't been following prices so are we back in the land of "overs" again? Hope to see you at Oulton PCGB later this month for a catchup!

Apologies! Misunderstood your post. Talking about using them, I was on the NC500 at 0500 this morning in mine wink. Shame it was miserable/pouring rain.
