It all seems very quiet!

I’ve spoke to 2 OPC’s and apparently nothing has been confirmed regarding end of production so my fingers are still crossed.

I’m at the PEC on the 29th April for my GT4 experience so going to try and see what I can find out there…

So I guess they are waiting for their 2023 allocation to get you a car?

That’s if there is going to be a 2023 allocation at all!

Spoke to my OPC yesterday, basically not much chance but "on the list"

Production restarts June apparently.

Also, 1 GTRS allocation per dealer, 2 if lucky. You would need to have bought many cars well into 7 figures to stand a chance.

Please let me know what you ascertain. I am at PEC June so will be asking same questions biggrin

My OPC said no end of prod as well, expect to make them into 2024.

GR86 a bargain alternative...
I loved my 2012 GT86 so much that I bought it back shortly after trading my 718 Cayman in for a used 981 GT4 back in 2018. GT4 for summer, GT86 for winter was the plan. Worked OK for a while, but the Porsches really do have so much going for them. I'm sure the GR86 is better than the GT86, and there really wasn't too much wrong with the original car; loved it and owned the same one for over 9 years on and off. Ultimately it was the "dealer experience" that swung it for me, when the Toyota developed some reliability issues after recall work. I paid out almost without limit on remedial work, but they just didn't seem to care that much whether I ended up with a car that could get me to work reliably.

Beyond that, every single thing about the Porsches, and the driving and ownership experience is more pleasant. While there was genuine competition in my mind about which I enjoyed driving most, I knew the base 718 I had traded was objectively better in almost every way; the GT86 was never less than great fun to drive though.

If I was more budget conscious, my order for a GR86 would have been placed when the new model was announced. I replaced the GT86 with another new 718 Cayman base model last year (and I am very fortunate that I can afford to hang onto the 981 GT4 for the time being). I honestly don't think the GR86 will genuinely compete even with the base 718 Cayman for driving experience, let alone the 718 GT4. Grins per pound spent? I bet the GR86 will win that one, but ultimately it depends how much budget matters. A Porsche 718 will be better in every way.

As of today (Wed the 20th) the internal system is still showing that my car has projected; build, shipped and delivery dates which mean it should now be in my possession. The reality, however, is neither my dealer or Porsche are able to tell me at what stage it’s at, or even if the build has started.

The waiting game continues.

Does this mean the delivery date has elapsed?

It means, as per my previous message, that the internal system dates still aren’t being updated and the factory is working on a JIT basis for parts, meaning the car could be at any stage and the first the dealer will know about it is when it turns up on the trailer or they get a status update direct from the factory.

He assures me the car isn’t cancelled nor will be cancelled, it’s just held up somewhere in the process, but he can’t tell me where.

Confirmed to me this afternoon by my SA that the factory have confirmed my car has yet to go into build and they are still awaiting the wiring loom for production to get underway.

So I think it's safe to say that if you're expecting a car that was due to go into build around the same time as mine (start of March) or after, then you won't be seeing it for a while, and also any info anyone is receiving about new builds/slots should be taken with an absolute pinch of salt.

Correct, if parts were ordered before early March most will be fine. If after it’s in the lap of the gods.

All I can say is my dealer has been 100% above board, dates shared from the system when available. Aside from an initial slip of a few weeks when it was supposed to have been firmly in build it’s been all good, and they confirmed yesterday that car is now at Harwich and will be mine in @ 2 weeks once released by Reading (they prep all GT cars) No PCCBs on my order so I think that has helped…

What dealer did you buy from?

Apologies in advance if this is a stupid question, but what are the chances of getting an allocation?

Background - having never owned a Porsche before, I bought a brand new Macan GTS (delivered 2 weeks ago) to replace my RRS. I got very lucky with the dealer who got me my car within 6 months of ordering, amazing given the circumstances.

As values are currently so high, I ordered my next Macan GTS the day I collected this one, so they have my deposit again and spec. Hopefully the new one will come in 12-18 months. The Macan is brilliant, and despite owning a few performance cars and still having a new AM Vantage I totally 'get' the Porsche thing now and want more.

I have asked the same dealer if I can order a GT4, with little hope but I thought it was worth a try. I've sent them a code and basically said if you can get me one then great, I don't mind how long it takes to arrive etc. I don't know if these are limited to 'special customers' like a GT3, or if they just don't get many allocations vs demand meaning a bit waiting list.

If I can't get one it's not the end of the world, but if I get the opportunity I'll bite their hand off. Am I peeing in the wind?
