718 GT4 UK Allocations

Apologies in advance if this is a stupid question, but what are the chances of getting an allocation?
Background - having never owned a Porsche before, I bought a brand new Macan GTS (delivered 2 weeks ago) to replace my RRS. I got very lucky with the dealer who got me my car within 6 months of ordering, amazing given the circumstances.
As values are currently so high, I ordered my next Macan GTS the day I collected this one, so they have my deposit again and spec. Hopefully the new one will come in 12-18 months. The Macan is brilliant, and despite owning a few performance cars and still having a new AM Vantage I totally 'get' the Porsche thing now and want more.
I have asked the same dealer if I can order a GT4, with little hope but I thought it was worth a try. I've sent them a code and basically said if you can get me one then great, I don't mind how long it takes to arrive etc. I don't know if these are limited to 'special customers' like a GT3, or if they just don't get many allocations vs demand meaning a bit waiting list.
If I can't get one it's not the end of the world, but if I get the opportunity I'll bite their hand off. Am I peeing in the wind?
I got an allocation without ever buying a Porsche before in my life, but I did have to wait around a year for it to physically be in my possession from being put on the waiting list. I placed deposit this sort of time last year, was told I had an allocation early December and took delivery of my car end of last month, so it is possible. However, I would say to take my situation with a pinch of salt, as the world was a very different place in comparison to things happening right now! I would also say that I got very lucky! I asked my salesman about placing an order for a 992 Turbo S, and he said I'd be lucky to see it within 18-24 months of placing an order!!

Congrats! It does seem like a real lottery with Porsche, I have never had one before either and only bought new due to the crazy secondhand prices for Macan's. local dealers were quoting 12-18 months plus, then a chance conversation with someone senior in one of the main dealer chains pointed me towards a relatively new OPC that didn't yet have a long waiting list...voila, car turned up in 6 months. There's guys on the Macan forum that put a deposit down 12 months ago from now and still haven't been given a build slot! However, I would say to take my situation with a pinch of salt, as the world was a very different place in comparison to things happening right now! My worry with the Cayman is that the next one will be electric, so when they stop making these that really will be it. I have zero interest in an EV sports car so would love to get one of the last ICE models.

It means, as per my previous message, that the internal system dates still aren’t being updated and the factory is working on a JIT basis for parts, meaning the car could be at any stage and the first the dealer will know about it is when it turns up on the trailer or they get a status update direct from the factory.
He assures me the car isn’t cancelled nor will be cancelled, it’s just held up somewhere in the process, but he can’t tell me where.
All I can say is my dealer has been 100% above board, dates shared from the system when available. Aside from an initial slip of a few weeks when it was supposed to have been firmly in build it’s been all good, and they confirmed yesterday that car is now at Harwich and will be mine in @ 2 weeks once released by Reading (they prep all GT cars) No PCCBs on my order so I think that has helped…He assures me the car isn’t cancelled nor will be cancelled, it’s just held up somewhere in the process, but he can’t tell me where.

Crikey, I appreciate times are tough supply wise but trying to buy a new Porsche is rather kafkaesque!
OPC #1) No chance, "ill put you on the list". "Last GT3 I sold was to a guy who has done £2m with us in 18 months"
Me) Cool story bro
OPC #2) Buy something else off me first and then we will see.
Me) I don't want a GTS, I want a GT4.
I guess this is a glimpse into a world I don't really want part of. That M2CS is looking even more tempting.
Test drive of 718 GT4 at PEC incoming, guess that will make my mind up.

I've been told the issue is with Wiring harnesses, not parts (no PCCB's on mine though), so in theory if I spec-locked before you guys then mine should have been built before?!?

Thanks guys. Slight worry creeping in my side because from what I can see from your posts @matt you spec-locked long after I spec-locked. @Phil when did you spec-lock?

If you locked it last year you should of had it by now.

Hi.
Deposit was at the end of January.
Spec was locked yesterday.
OPC Portsmouth.
Wow, quite a quick turn around! Thanks for the info.Deposit was at the end of January.
Spec was locked yesterday.
OPC Portsmouth.
I currently have a deposit down for a Boxster GTS purely because I thought a GT4 or Spyder were unachievable. However given the ridiculous lead times on even the GTS I may switch to a GT4/Spyder deposit and cross my fingers!
The Porsche configurator has been updated with model year 2023 for the GT4:
https://cc.porsche.com/icc/ccCall.do?rt=1651055469...
You’d assume another year of production based on this.

Interesting, how do you know it's MY23?
I see PCCBs are back on the table too, as is PTS.
Base price has gone up £1,750, Arctic Grey introduced as a new colour, rear parking sensors are a no cost option, cruise control is standard equipment and as you say PCCBs are available to option again.I see PCCBs are back on the table too, as is PTS.
You can see model year 2023 in the URL, plus the chaps on Rennlist are talking about it too.

Edit: You also got a prompt on the configurator "Do you want to copy selected configuration into new model year?" when loading my old MY22 code: http://www.porsche-code.com/PNI84M41
