Thanks for the info. Saves £1200 or so in optional extras I guess!
It would hamper re-sale. I would cancel the order or agree for them to retrofit at their cost when the PDLS+ units come available again.

PDLS and PDLS+ won't really hamper resale prospects in any significant way but should add some value ££ maybe perhaps c half the option cost new if you are lucky. I wouldn't pay anything extra to have non factory order lights retrofitted.

I have PDLS on the GT3 btw.

Agreed. Wouldn’t make any difference to me personally which one it had if I was looking for a used car.

And certainly wouldn’t give up a GT allocation just because the option was removed….

I have PDLS+ on my Cayenne, and having had standard PDLS in my previous Cayenne, I wouldn’t go out of my way to spec PDLS+ The standard PDLS headlights are excellent.

I’m not sure if the specs of the headlights are the same on the cayenne and GT4 though.

Exactly. I always spec the best headlights I can as i live in rural Scotland where dear are an issue. However, would I have cancelled my GT4 over the lights, absolutely no way. PDLS+ may be better than std, but std is most likely also pretty good.

The key thing here is that PDLS+ are LED headlights, PDLS are Xenons, so it's not just the "plus" part that's different it's the whole lighting system.

For me the LED lights were a must so I can see why some people would be really upset having the option taken away from them at the last minute.

I have to lock my spec in the next week or two. I’m upset about losing the option of PDLS+, but like a few above have said, I’m not willing to lose my build a slot over it!

Yes. I have a tow bar on my GT4 mainly for the bike rack. Occasionally I will tow the caravan.

I specced LED's purely on looks alone. I don't like the bright shiny chrome cones in the standard 'terminator' light units, the PDLS Bi-Xenons have smoked lenses so the the all-black units look very black blob 'aftermarket' IMO. The PDLS+ LED's however give a wider and more purposeful complete look to the car. So it was always going to be LED's for me regardless of the cost.

If I were having to lock spec again now and choose between standard v PDLS, I think I'd prob pick the PDLS as the lesser of the two evils, even though I think they are hideously overpriced for what you get.

Does anybody know if Porsche are now stopping the GT4 due to the GT4 RS starting production? I spoke to my local dealer the other day however they said that no more allocations are now available as production is stopping. Is this actually the case or is it worth trying other dealers?

BMW have removed the ability to spec LED headlights on the R1250 Adventure bike due to shortages, however, if you go ahead and order with Xenons, when LEDs become available again they will retrofit them at no cost. Porsche could have adopted a similar strategy.

Not as simple as that on the Porsche - it’s a completely different wiring arrangement with the camera activated lights ( lEDs)

One of the really nice things about the LED + lights is the ability to swap the dipped beam direction while driving abroad.
My old 2006 cayman s had bi xenon and we’re pretty good but the PDLS+ are really really good. Cancel order? No I don’t see why you would, how often do you drive at night and will it really detract from the experience?
Understand being a bit cheesed off not having the option but we are in strange times.

Hi all, those that have had their LED headlights removed from their order, what status is the order currently at? Are they locked orders? Mine is V250 (vehicle fixed in production) and I've yet to hear from my dealer about the headlight issue.. albeit she is away this week. Freeze date was early July. Completion is due first week of Sep.

Reading on rennlist and it seems your PDLS+ LED will likely be pulled and you will receive base headlights with the cost reduction passed onto you. A bit mad but a few people over there weren't even given the chance to spec the BI-Xenon PDLS as it was already V250.

Factory is closed for summer at the moment so all is a bit up in the air as to what you can and can't change.

Thanks Sam, I’d be a bit gutted if honest.. particularly given PDLS isn’t an option on an RS, so they will be the standard xenons with silver projector housings which do look a bit dated now. Fingers crossed mine has slipped through but I’m preparing for the worst! Although there are bigger problems in the world to be worrying about!

I am in the same boat. Car due to be produced first week of restarting. Spoke to my dealer who said he hadn’t heard anything about my build - so was kinda hoping that I might still get them.

If not I would like to think I will get a call asking what I do want rather than Porsche just changing my spec with no communication.

I think I know how it will work and am sure I will be a bit disappointed - but as others have said - there are worse problems at the moment.
