The GT silver really shows off the feature lines. Guards red was definitely my second choice.

Would have loved yellow calipers, but instead I’ll have to cope with the cast iron brakes. It’s even got red stitch which I think is a big no no for resale.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to answer my questions during my search.
Plus 1 on the red stitch - my car has red everywhere inside as well as out (thought not the clocks, thankfully, as that would have been a deal breaker).

And another gone, a 2020 car, total available now down to 24. What do we reckon, single/low-double-digit availability by the end of the March?

Yep, that's usually the norm.

Very nice, I hope you enjoy it. I see you've had or have an S2 Exige. I'll be interested to hear your views on how they compare. Although I'll be able to do that too soon as I've had an S2 and am about to get a GT4. I'm hoping the GT4 is that perfect middle ground now I'm 40 something and my Wife can get in it ??
Thanks v much, and also to the other posters.

I still have an S2, a 2010 cup 260 (with radio!) that was substantially restored to better than new a couple of years ago and is a total honey. I am very lucky and have no plans to sell it even with the GT4 arriving.

What follows is a bit of a stream of consciousness and I make no apologies for it.

I've had a few lotus' before getting the GT4, including an Evora 400 and a V6 Exige S which are probably the best comparisons. However you asked about how it compares to an S2 - well in summary the S2 (even my cup) is like a kit car go kart. Key pluses are that the carbon fibre seats are mounted better, the steering is unassisted and has more feel and its super sharp to drive and feels more agile. Also it looks like a mini racing car and, in the case of my one, is covered in carbon fibre. And has a roof scoop, which is worth at least 100hp standing still. Fact. But the GT4 is a lot more usable, the engine is spectacular in comparison to the S2 (and most others frankly), and in my heart of hearts I know the GT4 will be faster round any given track even in my comfort spec form. The ride is somewhere between the Evora 400 and the V6 exige, with the evora being better and the exige worse. Its better built and rattles less than any of my lotus'. The gearbox is a work of art and feels amazing to use (and, unlike the 400, doesn't make an annoying whine at low revs). It sounds pretty good to my ears in isolation - it's quite loud in the cabin (my wife hasn't experienced it yet) but I don't need earplugs, whereas I do in the exige as it sets off my tinnitus. The exige is an event to drive and at the right time and place i still think I'd prefer it to anything else. But the GT4 is almost as much of an event and can be driven every day, the chassis is better and the exige can get quite spiky when grip runs out. Practical too with two boots. My wife should be able to get comfortable in it given the degree of adjustability in the seats, whereas she was unable to drive the Evora as couldnt reach the bottom of the clutch pedal! Exiges are ok in that respect. Also the headlights are AMAZING compared to any exige. Try one and I think you'll be sold. It best compares to some sort of V6 exige - I really loved mine and wish I hadn't sold it for the Evora, but the GT4 is like a V6 exige with a much bigger development budget and an amazing engine. Early days of course but I am smitten.

I'm early 40s also and it does feel like a slightly(!) more grown up and mature(!) V6 exige. The GT4 is the only Porsche I've ever really wanted, 911s even GT3 don't really do it for me and nor do lesser caymans. It feels like a car lotus (old lotus) could have built, if only they had the resources. (Whereas the new Emira does absolutely nothing for me (I had a really early deposit and pulled it when I saw the display car at the local dealer in late 2021), and the forthcoming white goods electric lotus even less than that.)
Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts to date. It sound like we have very similar tastes!

I had an S2 NA and then the 220 that I kept for 10 years and I absolutely loved it to pieces. I sold it after a lot of track days but with young kids it once sat in the garage for 18 months. It's the worst decision I ever made. Perfect spec and only 23k miles when I sold it about 4 years ago🤦‍♂️

So last year I decided the world was changing and I needed to buy something special so I sourced one of the last new 410 Sport Exiges. It's a long story but I had to reject the car and only did 500 miles in it. This was supposed to be my first and last new car!! Gutting.

You are incredibly lucky to have the Cup260, I kept looking when I had mine and wished I'd stumped up the extra cash. I did have Nitrons and the upgraded brakes on mine so it went well.

The other reason I let mine go was that realistically my Wife wasn't interested in going to Europe in it and I don't blame her. I'm thinking the GT4 will be a good compromise.

I'm really pleased to read your feedback as someone who's clearly got similar car interests. I suspect I will feel exactly the same, the GT4 will be great but on those odd occasions the S2 would produce a slightly bigger smile.

I hope you continue to enjoy it. 👍

I have just been notified by my OPC that carbon bucket seats are available to order again, so I have re-submitted my order. I wonder if people cancelling orders has resulted in Porsche applying some pressure on their suppliers or whether it is just good fortune on my part?

I don't know whether I am being a bit paranoid or not, but I'd rather inform you via email instead of stating it publicly. If you PM me I will provide you with the details.

Yup - I spotted a reference to this last night and asked my OPC to check. Bingo!

I have got the gold wheels but have the black callipers as I thought the yellow callipers clashed with the gold - but each to his own!

I'm feeling pretty chuffed now that mine's arrived. I happened to be in the right time/place for a cancelled order. I can just about live without PDSLs because it has CS and PCCBs. I'd love to do something with the lights though, they really are rubbish! I image improved xenon bulbs would help?

Anyway, it was my first ever drive in a GT4 tonight, I'm so glad I enjoyed it. smile

There will be a few people who cancelled their orders that will now be disappointed now buckets are available again.

Thank you for taking the time to detail your Lotus to GT4 journey. As a V6 Exige owner, and only the GT4/Spyder on my wish list, you have helped a lot....I think winkspin

It’s a cancelled order. Potentially (dare I say it) a flippers spec. It has all the available big ticket items, PDK, PCCBs, LWBs, CS, BOSE and Leather/racetrack but curiously it’s missing lights, climate and no nice to haves, like black callipers and (God forbid) deviated stitching! However, it’s brand new, under £100k and will go around a track just as fast as any other, in fact, quicker because it lightweight spec, innit. biggrin

I'm assuming you have the standard headlights (silver surround) and not the PDLS, which are Xenon's with dynamic movement. The PDLS have black surrounds and 4 small led lights similar to a 911 lights.

The reason I say this as I have the Black PDLS Xenon's and I think they are excellent and very bright. The PDLS+, which are LED, were not available to order and therefore the PDLS make do with Xenon and no auto highbeam.

This is prior to them adapting the PDLS to the same LED appearance as the + and removing the xenon headlight.

I'm coming from a car with laser lights and find the Xenon's to be very good.
Yep, boggo standard lights. I too have laser lights in my DD and these are rubbish in comparison. I gather you can upgrade the 25W standard bulbs to the 35W bulbs in the xenon PDLS.

I’d be keen to hear if anyone’s done this?

I think they've never been 'off' the configurator, somewhat bizarrely, but despite that they have been unavailable for some time and, as I understand it, that remains the case.

Unless anyone knows differently?

I'm sure you'll be able to upgrade the bulbs and think I read a few had done this on Rennlist.
