I have been following the excitement that has been generated from the release of the Gt4rs. I fully understand the ethos of the GT4RS and the race series of the CS version. I understand that a Spyder RS is also planned. Do you think that this will result in the current spyder becoming more available. I tried every uk OPC in September to see if they would allow me to order a Spyder and none would. I did manage to get a 25th and im more than happy with that but would really like to get into a new Spyder at some point if at all possible.
I see my old 981 Spyder has now found its way to OPC Portsmouth.......
Amazing to see the travels of your old car as it's passed around the trade & online auctions.....
I sold it through motorway.co.uk back in July for what was I believe very strong money. The highest trade bidder (specialist independent dealer) collected the car and it was immediately advertised for strong money reflecting the cars very high spec, low mileage and perfect condition. After a month / 6 weeks there were a couple of price adjustments before it disappeared from their website presumably sold. Then it was listed on collecting cars presumably by the initial specialist (same location) but failed to hit reserve and was therefore unsold @ £68,000...
Same specialist trader then re-advertised for £75,990 (coincidentally a lump less than I sold it to them for!) and it once again disappeared from their website presumably sold....
Now, a week later its appeared on Porsche used car listings at OPC Portsmouth @ £84,990 - complete with 2 year warranty and all the benefits of buying directly from an OPC.
Not just saying this because it was my car but it really is perfect, has amazing spec with all the best options and with its low mileage and cherished owners you won't find a better 981 Spyder.

I did the same, sold my 981 spyder to trade and still for sale at OPC Wolverhampton albeit £4K lower since they advertised it at the end of August. I’ve a 987 spyder now. A great car but now replaced with a 987 Spyder - my 2nd one
How is the 987 experience after the 981? Why did you want to go back to the 987? My 987 Spyder experience is fairly limited - to a week’s test drive years ago on launch.
I sold my 981 Spyder this autumn to WBAC as I felt the price was strong and wasn’t using it so much, with a view to being in cash to perhaps pick up a 458 spider at some point in the future. The steering feel and leggy gear ratios were the main negative of the 981.
I was surprised to see it then pop up for just £7k more than I sold it for at an OPC. I loved it, particularly the euro trips I did in it, but I do not miss it at all yet. Maybe that will come over the years… Equally I’d happily have another!
It will have had a service, warranty with Porsche etc so not a huge margin for a business of that size in my view. Made me feel that I got a fair deal.

See they have removed the nasty front-end wrap it had and increased the price from 38k to 40k.
Also noticed they have still not fixed the rear passenger buckled wheel, that to me screams a dealer just interested in making a profit and not actually selling a quality car, otherwise they would have had that wheel repaired/replaced the moment they took the car into stock.
Shabby nasty example, 32k at best for that car!

Having previously had both a 987 then a 981 Spyder, both of which have been missed, I decided it was time to return to the fold. For me personally it had to be the 987 to now keep long term, it just has that extra bit or character, nicer steering, less annoying roof design re boot opening, and a few other things, all IMO of course.
Now for the spec, purists should really look away now !!
It's pretty much the full heavyweight version with PDK, sports heated seats, full leather, and nav, - it does have the right wheels though. Other options include sports chrono, dials in white, seat backs and roll bars in white, plus the all important sports exhaust. Mileage around 15k, with 3 previous owners, and fairly immaculate really.
It's my perfect spec going into older-ish age now with keeping it long term in mind. The transmission wasn't the decider but I quite like PDK, I have other cars with buckets, a bit less keen on them now than I used to be anyway, and the missus likes heated seats.
So there you have it my perfect Spyder, probably the heaviest and in many eyes the least driver focused spec around, but I love it and really just don't care

I didnt realise there was a new thread here. Even so it still seems a bit quiet in here. This red car at Ashgoods has been mentioned in the Cayman R thread. Anyone know the car? Looks like it had Porsche in Red across the front window when it arrived but now removed.

Yep, seen the Ashgoods car when I collected my Spyder from them in July.
It was at £55k when it first went up, I think it sold for just under £50k then came back up for sale soon after, no idea what the reason was.
It is immaculate. The only thing for me is it doesn't have the leather dash, which does make the interior a bit more plush.

I think it was purchased by someone that didn't live in the UK at the time... for him to do a Euro tour and then sold back to Ashgoods. It is a white one and I still own it.
This red one was purchased and shortly after purchase, it was back at Ashgood.
I have no clue why ?
