Considering 911 but……
The contrast in colour between the blue and red I love.
This is a car I hope to keep for a few years.
Concerns are:
1. Never had a red interior. It’s all red, inc. carpets, steering wheel dash, is it too much red? Anyone got this option and thoughts and how does it wear?
2. Gentian Blue. How does this hold up in terms of chips and swirls? I will probably end up getting it corrected at some point.
3. How do the rear arches hold up with stone chips in this colour?

Thought and experiences appreciated

Cheers

As it happens this is exactly the same colour setup we have ordered and hopefully will be built soon (meant to be this month). Our current 996.1 has an all red interior too. It’s a bold contrast but we have seen the two colours separately in the flesh. On Rennlist you can see pics of this combination too.

Hope this helps.

Was just concerned was it too garish and would it become too much to live with over time?

Way too much and will harm resale IMHO but you only live once so if thats your dream spec, swallow the brave pill and go for it.
Personally I would stop after the seats being in red
Dash, door cards and steering wheel all in red as well is far too garish for me

If you PX,d your car was its value affected by the colour of the interior?

Personally I i like a dark red interior but not with a red steering wheel or dash top….it can be too red IMHO. Imagine the red dash might be prone to reflections in the windscreen

i like the new blues for the interior, have you tried those? might compliment the exterior;.... or the 2 other red leather options (other than Bordeaux).

though personally I like the new heritage interior from the Sports Classic (both tan/black and black/black with the Pepita cloth) are very nice. Bordeaux is nice but check out the 15 or so new interior colour schemes.

We don’t plan to p/x the 996 so not sure. If you plan to keep the 992 for a number of years - which we do - then I am firmly in the camp which says build what you want, not necessarily what’s best for resale. As an extreme example of this when we viewed a used 992 at our dealer with the Bordeaux red interior the sales guy commented that what was stopping it selling in his opinion wasn’t the interior colour but the aluminium window trim strips which the car had - it was Agate grey colour for reference. We don’t have aluminium trim strips on our car…. but we saw several at PEC Silverstone with them. However wheel colour choice is I think important with how GB looks - silver colour wheels imo look much better than black with this colour but each to their own view. For reference our full red interior spec uses the crayon stitching element too for some minor colour breakup.

Hope this helps.

I had full Carrera Red interior in my (white) 987 Spyder. This was a brighter red tHan Bordeaux but I liked it - and did not have any problems with reflections in windscreen. I have Gentian Blue on my current Spyder. I had it ceramic coated when new and so far it is resisting swirl marks very well.

PS I cannot see those blue interiors on the UK configurator.

There are 15 interior leather colours on the Configurator. 3 of which are red, Bordeaux, Lipstick and Guards. You have to click the middle row of options which have the paint brush icon in them. After you confirm your choice in the price popup panel, it the pops up with a second panel that lists the range of interior colours…whereby you can choose from a wide array of leather colours. There are greens, reds, blues, creams etc.
as mentioned check out the heritage options in the bottom row as those are rather special too.

But yep, it’s there to he had. Unsure why everyone seems to overlook it and either opts for black or Bordeaux. There is a wealth of different interior colour options

PS
To try out other colour options, you have to select anything else but the ones with the paintbrush…that resets it; and then go back to the paintbrush ones to try another colour. That was the work around I found as there seems to be a bug in the tool that once selected you can’t change the colour unless you remove that option and go again at it.

Having had full pimp red on an S2000 for 20 years , we searched out a 911 with the same , to us a black interior is avoided at all costs, got it in my latest E Class , never again .

Thanks for sharing Julian. That adds almost £8k for the leather choice for the standard non heritage options and seems to require 18 way ventilated memory seats also when I tried it in addition to the more usual sports chrono pack. I think also there are a few bugs in what is now the MY2023 configurator….

Nothing wrong with the 18 ways though is there? One can opt for buckets with the coloured leather too. Cost wise it’s what?, probably between 5% - 10% of the cost of the car depending on which model one is applying it to amongst other spec. Considering how much of a difference it makes (as does the Heritage interior options), seems a no brainier to me percentage wise.
