One thing that struck me, both before and after buying my 2016 Cayman GTS is how there seems to be little asking price variation between 2014 and 2016 cars.

taking the Cat S car out that seems to have been for sale for ever, the price spread is £38500 for the cheapest GTS with 58,000 mile manual with a marmite colour combo, up to £53k for the recently added blue car, I can't recall if it was the one linked earlier advertised private but it went through BCA this week in the Top Car auction so not sure who the vendor that entered it was.

the most expensive I have seen recently for sale was the yellow GTS which I think was up at £57k, that appears to have now sold or gone from Autotrader. So I would say the current prices are there abouts for the age and mileage of what's on offer.
I am sure it was the one I linked in last October, as I would have been interested in it at around £48K, however, the Private Seller appeared to be fixated on asking top OPC money for it because of the unusual spec & low mileage. So what seems to have happened here is it didn't sell and presumably he received a lot less through auction (probably low £40's) once fees have been deducted.

Interesting thread, and it really does show how mentally high used prices were until fairly recently.

I bought a flawless 25k,1 owner BGTS last November for 45k from a respected dealer, and although it’s not the perfect spec -no climate- as it’s a fine weather car I’m not too bothered. It really was immaculate so I had PPF done to keep it that way.

Visually and driving wise I actually prefer it to the demo 4.0 GTS I had for a day and did the Porsche Experience in, and I plan to keep this car for a very long time and drive the arse off it.

Yes thats really nice

Looks like the GTS with buckets has been put up two grand to £55K, complete madness, this also happened with a 981 Spyder that recently came on AT and within two days went up two grand.

Prices have dropped since last summer as people have said but they always do with this type of car going into winter and I would naturally expect to see prices creep back up over the next few months as we head into the good weather, maybe not £2k in a day though lol.

and this thread has just directed loads of views to said advert which has probably correctly or incorrectly informed them to increase the price smile

Saw a Carmine red car parked up today and reminded me how good these still look. I remember sitting in one probably 6/7 years ago thinking what a lovely place to be.

I’m after something to accompany the GT4 and Macan at least for summer.

Toying with one of these / 718 GTS 2.5 / the new civic type R / 997 GTS.

Mine. It looks great. But then the noise. Omg, sends shivers up your spine.

The 2.5 GTS is probably faster in a modern turbo way. It depends what you want.

New civic? Oh dear. I’m sure it’s mind bendingly rapid. But, just look.

Here we have another bonkers overpriced GTS

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202305217...

WBAC value it at £40K, AT suggest advertising it at £45K as a Private Seller, if this one sells close to asking all you guys who already have your GTS's keep hold of them as it looks like their only going one way. At these prices Spyder's are looking cheap and there are plenty of low mileage ones available. One consolation I suppose is that the £60K I have set aside for my GTS/Spyder is now growing by £3K per year.................confused

Yeah, there are some pretty wild adverts for the Cayman GTS at the moment too - various models well over £50k, including one at £59k and another at £66k!

it is certainly an unusual colour !

The dark blue car at £55k I noticed sold pretty sharpish , again the colour wouldn't be for me or the seats, having previously had a Spyder with buckets and both me and my better half both struggled with them for anything over an hours driving with back ache. I can imagine the seats would have been the selling point, rare in a GTS and a lot buyers will favour them.

Having lived with both, if a 981 Spyder and a GTS pdk were both for sale I would personally pick the GTS everytime, I only did a touch over a 1000miles in my Spyder in a year, they look and sound fantastic but the 3.8 motor and the manual gearbox just didn't float my boat at all, after the running in period I really struggled with it, the GTS 3.4 engine is much peakier and works really well with the pdk imho. in the year I owned the Spyder I did more miles in my old 1990 Honda CRX 1.6 Vtec than I did in the Porsche, which I think spoke volumes.

And that roof is a faff whereas the regular roof goes up in 8 seconds whilst you are doing 30mph….!

GTS for me, even if they were the same price. Agreed, engine and gearbox are as sweet as anything. Spyder, it’s too low, too raw, for a non track car.

Looks great though. Roof down.

Looks great up or down I think , I’m just back from a few days over in the lakes (Uk) touring in the 718 spyder and have a trip down to Italy planned and I will be honest if my GTS hasn’t sold before I go I will be seriously tempted to take it for the trip , the roof isn’t exactly hard to drop on the Spyder but after the last few days I do miss just sitting in the car and pushing that button I won’t lie lol

Jeff, what about the clutch are you missing PDK, I have a friend who has a 981 Spyder and has a new 718 Spyder coming soon because it will be PDK......I suspect the 981 clutch is too heavy, albeit the 718 won't sound as nice.

My Spyder is PDK, I couldn't get a new Spyder so have been searching used for the last couple of years and dismissed so many big spec manual cars even walked away from a Speed yellow with every option I wanted and that was my chosen first choice colour. that's the issue with not getting a new allocation it's difficult to get something that ticks all the boxes you always have to compromise, the car I ended up with has most of the spec I was after but ideally i was hanging out for a yellow pdk but after 2 years and I never saw one come up.
Purely by chance I ended up with one in Python Green that had literally just landed in px the day I walked into my local opc to kill some time as I was waiting for a parts for a friend at the garage next door ! .

Worth mentioning i'm not against changing gear, all the other cars I own are manual and I wouldn't want them any them any other way but after previously having a 981S and then the Spyder in manual and then getting the GTS in pdk I knew what I wanted .

and yes the 981 sounds much better !!

Can we see some pics of your Spyder please? it sounds fantastic, never seen one in Python.

I ordered a 718 Boxster S in python, but then realised the waiting list and the model change probably ,meant I’d never get one, (well, see earlier in the thread), so bought a 981 GTS in almost perfect spec for me.

Only thing missing was cruise control, which I want for motorway / autoroute / autostrada use. Had it retro fitted today, cost £600.

As I said I really wanted one in race yellow or guards was my second choice and was holding out and in no panic to buy as was really happy with the red GTS I’ve got, so when I walked in and saw this in python, I will be honest it really threw me as I’d not seen on before and never considered the colour but all my other cars are in bright colours (mostly yellow and I painted my last Caterham porsche acid green )so it doesn’t look out of place .

There is only average 3 PDK spyders for sale st one time and What I have noticed in the classifieds is that they seem to very colour sensitive for resale . Appreciate that GT silver is the piston headers colour of choice and from what I’ve read the most sold colour for a 718 but for me it’s just tooooooooo “ safe” my mates grandads Insiginia looks the same colour and guessing other used car buyers feel the same as the 2 silver cars are still for sale after months, they are well priced and in that time I’ve seen bright coloured cars listed and sold in hours .

As requested Python green it’s certainly not a safe option .
