981 Boxster GTS…am I going mad?

Roof down too - nicely done. Any time spent getting cars deliberately (and safely) out of shape is all to the good. A great learning experience!
It was fun. I started with the windows down but as I got a bit faster started to get a bit wet inside. I also went backwards quite a few times. GT3Manthey said:

£60,459 as it stands in base model. So around £70k with tasteful options. The one at JZM looks 'reasonable value' compared to some daft prices and IMHO the heated 18-way seats are better than buckets as these cars are ideally for jaunts to sunny EU places not a track. Anything over £70k is way way overpriced however you wrap it.
I'm looking for a 981 Boxster 2.7 with decent options to tide me over and use daily. Seen one I like but in my mind it's overpriced and my head says wait until after Christmas.
Definitely no rush. I'm looking for a 981 Boxster 2.7 with decent options to tide me over and use daily. Seen one I like but in my mind it's overpriced and my head says wait until after Christmas.
What doesnt add to me Is that a 991 2016 RS with 11k miles on CC’s doesn’t make the original sale price & yet people asking unchanged original purchase price for a 2015/16 Spyder.
Also a 2015 GT4 with more tech suspension etc can be had for 65/66k with miles and that was 4k more list.
The RS is a halo car & the Spyder 981 isn’t .
Don’t get me wrong I love em but I can’t help but think the relative value is all wrong.
As a heavily biased owner, the 981 Spyder represents the sweetest of sweet spots.
Manual only
limited production run
characterful noise, and misty eye'd historical name
mid engine
open top
road biased suspension. (not a pseudo track machine)
Next up from this was/is the 991 Speedster
Either side of this was the 987 - more raw .....and the 718, les limited with less characterful noise (from factory)
It all ends up massively subjective, but the market is deciding where each model sits ultimately..

It is fascinating how the market perceives them all.

Trying a different wheel colour on my GTS - swapped a friends set of Weiss Gold wheels onto my car with a pleasing outcome.
That looks fantastic, I'm a fan of Weiss gold wheels I had them on a 997RS and have them now on my GT3. Another small point I think that stitching beats red on a guards car. Lovely car glad your enjoying it. I bought my GTS as the only OPC manual available start of 2022. I specifically wanted a GTS, manual gearbox and a good colour (no black, silver, grey or white). The concession I had to make was the interior as car came with full leather option but I knew I could sort this one way or another.
Back end of 2022 a 718 GTS salvage car appeared and I bought the entire interior and sold my full leather interior - I now had a 981 GTS spec I was very happy with and a base car for further mods.

Gosh!
If you haven’t previously covered this in another reply, why the decision to stick with the 981 essentials but update the interior? (I fancy swapping out the aluminium trim in my GTS for a darker brushed finish.)
There is a 718 set here for sale which might fit ok?If you haven’t previously covered this in another reply, why the decision to stick with the 981 essentials but update the interior? (I fancy swapping out the aluminium trim in my GTS for a darker brushed finish.)

Fascinating - thank you for your reply. That interior is really smart.Back end of 2022 a 718 GTS salvage car appeared and I bought the entire interior and sold my full leather interior - I now had a 981 GTS spec I was very happy with and a base car for further mods.
My own car has the standard 981 GTS interior. The alcantara has really grown on me; it makes for a classy and special-feeling interior. I can see why you fancied swapping out the leather.

How did that work financially if you don’t mind me asking…? The the buying and selling, what was the net cost? Do you have the full function on the steering wheel? I want this swap but OPC says it’s impossible.
