Thanks, appreciated.

I’ve had a good look at approved, but the gap is reasonably significant as I’m looking for folding mirrors (park in garage) and PDK. Fallen in love with the 20” wheels too, particularly against the GP silver!

Dealer already dropped some, and won’t move any further. Good part ex for mine (almost private money) and I don’t suppose a full refurbishment of the 20” wheels isn’t cheap.

I guess even an approved car would have cosmetic brake disc rust and tyres at say 3mm - probably Pirelli too! Faded brake calipers too.

I think I’m talking myself into it!

I wouldn't worry about rust brakes discs. Very common on steels. Mine rust up within minutes of doing a wash and it's only a year old with 6000 miles on it. Same with the wheel bolts.

Brakes you could probably do yourself if you're that way inclined and the sensor isn't worn and the discs aren't lipped. Brake calipers do go grey if strong cleaning solutions are used (have a look at some of the OPCs demo cars!) however, you may be able to bring these back to life with a ceramic coating such a Gyeon Rim.

The 111 point check is standard if an OPC is providing an extended warranty but you may be able to negotiate the £250 cost as you're buying the warranty and paying for a service.

If you've made contact with the previous owner and if he's had it from new, he will be able to tell you if he's had any issues. Verify the mileage he sold it at compared to what it is now. That should indicate if it's been sat for a while and if anything has happened between him owning it and the dealer.

WRT options I'll tell you what was/is optional

Sports tailpipes. Standard one is oval
Folding mirrors
Carplay
Rear parking sensors
64 ltr tank
PDK
Multifunction steering wheel heated
Interior light package
Guards red seatbelts
Heated seats
Rear wiper

Any pictures of the interior?
Thanks.

I’m more than happy to replace the brakes myself, but what is the process with releasing the parking brake at the rear? I use VCDS on my Audi, will I need something similar?

You'll need a diagnostic tool for the electronic parking brake, if you need to touch it or change the rotor. Just be warned that the EPB doesn't use the rear pad like most systems but a separate shoe located behind the calliper.
Autel, iCarSoft, iScan and Foxwell make diagnostic units with the full EPB service mode options.

A pad change shouldn't require you to touch the EPB system, a rotor change will.

You should IIRC on "base" be able to get the rear pads out without removing the calliper, a suitably large piston spreader will needed to push the pistons back.

Thanks, appreciated.

Those diagnostic tools are a minefield! Any links to something cheap that will do the job? Also code battery too.

This looks good for the price?

Well that’s about £30 cheaper than design 911 want for the same unit, so yes a good price.

Are you planning on doing a disc/rotor change? If so watch the guides online particularly those that cover the diagnostics side of things.

Thanks - yes, I’ll change them all.

Any specific guides you can suggest?

It's a 981 but near enough the same as the 982 base front callipers are those off the 981 S just in black.

I would have thought the fronts would be the ones needing replacing given the mileage.. As the car isn't fitted with PTV the rears 'should' be ok.

For a EPB reset tool, have a look at the iCarsoft POR 3.0

Right, first, thanks so much to all of the contributors.

I decided not to proceed in the end, as an OPC car came up which I could just about stretch to (with some man maths).

Will be collecting in 2 weeks time - really excited.

2018 Base, 19,000 miles. Some nice options:

Thank you.

Only one uncertainty is the wheels. Really wanted the Carrera S wheels. Just not sure about the Turbo S ones - albeit, it seems they are the pricier option.

First world!

Turbo wheels are nice and forged so light.

You also got sports exhaust as well. The other car didn't have that.

Some nice options on there as well.

Enjoy

Appreciated.

I’m well chuffed!

Yes, options as follows:

Sports exhaust - seems that this just opens the valve rather than the Sport button that tweaks throttle response and gear change?
Steering Plus - just lightens effort at low speed
Bose - didn’t try this
Wheels with coloured logo caps - jury still out!
Tinted rear lights and black 718 logo
Twin climate
Heated multi function steering wheel
Folding mirrors - a must for me
Parking plus - just adds front sensor? No camera
Sports seat full leather - not sure if the seat shape is the same, but the leather seems nice
Cruise control
GT silver

I think that’s it!

One owner car supplied by same dealer. Immaculate, all 4 tyres being replaced.

That a great spec.

Sports seats have a different shape, shoulder level?

That cars well worth paying more for over the other one from the independent dealer.

Agree, whatever the maths says, I think a much better place to land (and less likely you'll be scrabbling around changing brake pads).

I think it looks absolutely great in all ways. It has options I never would have chosen, but none I would resent or regret. And look on the bright side, through all this thought and decision making looking at a car from an independent, you knew you really wanted one before you saw the OPC offering. That can really help!

I hope the purchase goes smoothly and you love the car.

Looks fantastic. I just picked up this Boxster myself and I must say I'm very happy:

The 4T seriously kicks out the power, am looking forward to the summer and taking it to Europe.

Should be collecting in just over a week.

All tyres bring replaced (wouldn’t agree Michelins), all four wheels refurbished and front bumper being sprayed. All being undertaken by their approved/preferred body shop etc.

Then straight to Detailer for pss as int correction and 7 year ceramic coating.

Cannot wait.

OPC seems to think I did well to get a discount from them - it is unusual to negotiate a discount on their approved used stock?

Cheers

Hi All

Just to update - I collected my 2018 GT Silver Cayman Base yesterday. So happy with my choice, after deliberating for a while!

Off the my detailer in a few weeks for him to work his magic.

Just a couple of questions please:

1) What options have people gone for for boot/frunk organisers?
2) With PDK is seems that you can get the brake to set out pushing hard - great. However, when switch engine off does the park brake stay set?
3) Anyone had trouble with Porsche metal valve caps seizing?

Cheers!

Very nice car. I too will be in the market very soon for a Cayman. Unsure wether to go for a 981 S or a 718.

What did you pay at the dealers if you dont mind me asking.
