Ahhh cunning plan... I get it. So if I want a fully super specced Sonderwunch build but I don't want to pay more than basic list, I order 2, flip the first one for overs and then the 2nd one is mine for a discount.

- what could possibly go wrong.

Do you think the lucky allocated buyer decided it wasn’t for them after the first 15 mile journey on the way home or it’s for sale for another reason ?

I'm sure the owner would come by shortly and write an impassioned essay about how the 15 mile drive convinced him that his 718 Spyder was all the car you'll ever need all along

Either the current owner lives next door to his local OPC or that cars has never left the dealership before getting sold on!

I'll wager the PTS one also ends up being sold by the OPC for a premium, with very few miles on it.

How long do we think the Spyder RS will take to follow the GT4RS price trajectory, ie down near list second hand?

I suspect that loads of first owners will offload them when they realise what a hassle the roof is and that it rains in the UK most of time!

Think it would be reasonable to assume the Spyder RS will be well under £200k by Autumn especially seeing as it is subject to seasonal demand.

Well I can't imagine anyone would stupid enough to pay the current asking prices so I can only imagine them going one way, I would pay a premium to own one if it was the colour and spec I wanted but would need to be considerably closer to list than they are currently to tempt my hard earned from my pocket !

I think the Spyder will do much better than the GT4 RS….from everything I’ve read it is a better road car and doesn’t threaten long term hearing loss. Yes the roof is a PITA but if you’ve got one of these you probably have more than one car to take out on a Sunday morning. Can’t think of many cars I’d rather take on a road trip to the Alps. I guess the car to compare it with is the 991 Speedster. Essentially the same engine, different transmission….would be a very interesting comparison.

Yep it will be interesting to see how soon it will be before there is parity on the Spyder with 4RS pricing when the next 2024 4RS get flipped so the cars are the same age.

In some ways the Spyder RS is a more niche package than the 4RS especially with the major drawbacks of that ridiculous roof.

I actually don’t mind the roof operation, it’s kind of like the 987 Spyder where you can leave the top part but remove the rear section which for my usage is better than the 981 and 718. I’ve had no issues with any of the variants and once you’ve done the roof once or twice it’s no big deal.

The 991 speedster comparison is a good one and to be fair I think the Spyder RS is the better looking car

I love the Spyder but even at list I gulped a bit at the price once spec’d up. If I hadn’t received an allocation I couldn’t bring myself to pay £200k for a used one.

If there are fewer Spyder RS than GT4RS, which seems to be what is happening, and the SRS is a better (less firm) road car, then I expect prices will stay firmer.

The roof looks like a hassle but it makes me laugh when people who are supposedly petrolheads go on about it. The Carrera GT roof is a bit of a pain and it means you have no luggage space for a continental trip for 2, but I couldn’t care less.

How can they do these comparisons without mentioning tyres ??

Out of interest, I recently saw a new set of Pirelli TrofeoR's and was surprised to see how little tread was on them ... it looked like 4-5mm ?

By comparison Cup2's now seem to have 7-8mm ??

The roof looks like its a slight modification over the Spyder roof on the 987... It's not exactly The Krypton Factor challenge to put up, and if you still struggle with it after you've done it half a dozen times then I'd start to wonder how you deal with things like lace up shoes.

Lift not necessary IMO, but should spec esp. for future resale.

Got mine yesterday, damping feels just like my ex 91.2 gt3 cs which is perfect for road few track days. Pdk is lightning fast.

Feels light, it is nimble. Love it !

£50k over list, I think there are now 6 for sale and don’t think any have sold. If more come to the uk than expected they could be at list by Xmas
