I am thinking of getting a 944/968 cab; but want to use it for some long distance touring. How much can I realistically expect to get into a 944/968 cabriolet? does it actually have a rear boot space? I tried googling for some pics, but couldn't find any that showed any stowage space.

I've owned a 944S2 Cab for over 4 years and have found the boot space very good for the type of car it is. It's not very deep but it is wide enough to fit a full set of golf clubs plus clothes/shoes etc.

I've also taken my cab on holiday and fitted in two small suitcases and 2 holdalls in the boot plus there is plenty of space behind the front seats as there are two seats in the back which were Ok for my kids until they turned into teenagers.

If your seriously looking for a good 944 Cab then mine is maybe for sale, it is immaculate and has had over £9K spent on it so I will only sell for a decent price, but if you want one of the best please let me know.

Thanks for the reply; most useful. Also, thanks for the offer of your car. but I am looking for a dark colour (most likely Blue, Grey, or something unusual).

I had a quick google and found a picture of my own car with a mountain bike in the boot! Thats a coupe though.

The following photo gives you a pretty good idea of the space thats available. Youll bet a little more room in a 968 due to the revised spare wheel mounting, but not enough to make a difference.

UK cars have rear seats, but it was more common to see a double stowage locker fitted to US cars. This gives more day to day storage at the expense of baggage carrying ability when you are travelling, as you can fit a huge amount on and in front of the rear seats if you use soft luggage.

I have no idea why the above picture isnt dispayed, or maybe its only me who cant see it due to an ActiveX issue. Anyway, this should work:

That's a very useful pic; it show's me exactly what I was looking for. I seems good enough to take some light touring bags. Thank you.

PS: does anyone know if the 944 has a similar size boot?

Ever so slightly smaller due to the spare wheel being upright. Makes virtually no practical difference though.

The majority of the storage space will be on the back seats and on the cabin floor immediately in front of them.

This is the interior of a 944 and UK 968s are similar. In America the lockers replaced the simple carpeted seats from 1993. They look smart but they take most of your real luggage space away.

There's almost limitless storage space in either really.

(As long as you store things on top of each other and have the roof down)

Our 944S2 Cab took my wife & me and our Labrador quite happily for 10 days European touring.
lots of space behind the seats, dog was happy on the rear "seats", plenty of room in the boot for a couple of cases & some squashy bags, dog bowls etc. there is even space under the boot floor on the opposite side to the battery!

Having been to Le Mans for a few years in the 944 cab, last time 3 years ago at the end of last summer, I was getting an annoying squeak and rattle from drivers side rear arch. After much investigation, I found a batchelors pasta and sauce sachet nestled in the rare arch, along with a 2 litre bottle of water. Hahaha, I even took bottled water the France for camping!
