sold many moons ago im afraid Lotus
one thing I always fancied doing was making a 968 ring car ... given its lower acceleration and momentum style of driving and also given how benign it is, I always felt it would make an absolutely perfect nordshleife practice car to learn the ring in. Relatively cheap to own and run, supple, easy to fit out with Gaz shocks, solid mounts, full cage etc.. and very strong in the event of an off.

Much safer than the Citroen AX diesel that did a 9:55 Bridge to Gantry time recently. That would fold up like wet cardboard in a crash. No roll cage or helmet I noticed.I wouldn't start from a Sport either! If I didn't take your (and my own) advice and look for an EMC built racer, then Id be looking for a full fat 968 Coupe.
There is no real or substantial advantage that I can think of, and Im far from a stranger to FrontRunners, to buying anything else. Food for thought: 968CSs don't come with an LSD, large brakes or adjustable suspension as standard. Only a few were built with non-sunroof bodies, whatever suspension theyre on will be worn out and need replacing and 1993 M030 dampers are knackered now and not particularly good in comparison to newer kit; most weigh almost as much as a Coupe and they cost 3x as much as one.

I 'think' that EMC have got an ex race car for sale...
I'm 'certain' that one of their customers is looking to get out of an original LHD Non sunroof CS in Maritime Blue.
Worth a call if you're interested... worth a visit if you pick up a car elsewhere. No one knows more about making 968's go faster.

That customer is me, still deliberating what to do......... Considering getting back into a 993 and only have single garage space so the 968 would have to go. I'm 'certain' that one of their customers is looking to get out of an original LHD Non sunroof CS in Maritime Blue.
