Ohhh yeah, nicely spotted. Definitely had a near-side ding. Needs to be looked at closely.

Bumpers fade & always look different to the metal work because they're PU. But that NSF headlight to wing looks wrong.

It is a really difficult market. I started casually looking for a 944T a couple of years ago. I reckon that prices for the really good ones have tripled in that time, and I really kick myself for passing up a mint example for £6.5k. Anything approaching that one is £20k+ now.

The market for older cars has gone really mad since then. I have got an 05 987S, which was worth several times what the 944T was back then and is now worth about half. For me, the Boxster is a better car in every way apart from charm and rarity, but I only expect the difference in values to increase in the next few years.

Everyone wants brand new or 20 year+ old cars. That leaves anything in the middle as a relative bargain, but that doesn't help if you want something old and rare.

So far I don't think many have made £20k, when good ones started making £15k I had thoughts about selling but deciding against it. If they start making £20k + I may reconsider...

Yeah, to be fair I didn't enquire about any of the £20k + ones. They all seemed to sell, but may have actually gone for quite a lot less.

Traders with fancy premises have probably sold the occasional Turbo around £20k, but I think that's unchartered territory for private sales, so far.

My wife has a mint early 8v auto, (33k miles from new) as a weekend car, it is probably they least esirable option of 944 imaginable fro a petrol head, but actually it is a nice car, the handling is superb, ,my advice is don't get tied up on the model get he best car you can find, they are good fun practical and cheap to run. In reality there is a 70 limit any 944 (even an 8v auto) is happy at that. I have several very fast cars and I still enjoy the 944.

If this was reality I'd have spent a lot less money on cars and bikes and be living in a much bigger house. laugh

My thoughts, since I started driving in 1975 there have probably been (counts fingers) 1 maybe 2 cars that wouldn't break 70mph! Most quite easy.

My 2.5 'Lux':

The anti-theft device in the back runs on Weetabix.

IMHO the 2.7 is marginally better, the 16v S worse if your driving style - like mine - enjoys torque rather than revs. S2 undoubtedly a better overall car, but condition trumps individual model choice. Some colours are particularly nice, ditto interiors (wish I had leather!), but again I'd rather have a reliable one in brown than a Red/Black/White one with body rot and dodgy electrics!

For that matter I'd even widen the search to include the 924S.

This book's quite good:

List price a bit steep - got mine in a remainders shop.

Love my 944 - bought it for a 20, then 40, mile cross country commute. Now it's a weekend bimble abouter - shows, road trips and camping trips with the five year old.
