Cayenne 2004 - Xtrons ODB2 diagnostic unit

I have bought an Xtrons ODB2 diagnostic unit and cannot get it to connect to the vehicle ECU.
The diagnostic socket does work as I have seen it used by the garage mechanics.
I can connect the OBD2 device via Bluetooth to a new after market Xtrons stereo/satnav unit but cannot connect to the vehicles ECU.
Torque software is installed but I may need an addition Porsche script or driver.
Any suggestions or solutions?
