Got a 2016 Cayenne 4.2 Diesel which I purchased from new, and it's now been back to the garage three times (twice in the first six months) with the dash displaying AdBlue Fault, car will not start in 650 miles.

I've searched high and low to see if anyone else has seen this issue, but been unable to find anyone with a similar issue.

Porsche connect the car to their computer and the fault clears itself until next time.

I have been trying to back the car, but Porsche don't seem to accept faulty cars back, they just keep on claiming it's fixed !

Whilst on the story of AdBlue, what mileage are you guys getting on a tank ? I haven't managed to get over 5k yet, whilst on the Macan, it was consistently over 12k. This is a lot of visits to Porsche for AdBlue !

Can't help on your problem but I'd say we get abou 5k miles out of a tank. Ours is a 2017 and has done 9000 miles and I filled it up at the weekend with 1000 miles range showing.

I think I got about 3000m in my Macan . Any reason your taking it to Porsche to fill ? You can buy it at any filling station .

Ours went back within 1k miles, was told there was an air lock in the system.

AdBlue is about £1/litre from fuel stations. Generally only need 6 litres to clear the message (on a Q5). No way I'm paying Porsche £120 for the privilege.

It's my understanding the Cayenne uses a non standard connector for re-filling the Ad-Blue. That aside, it's quite fortunate I have been using Porsche Ad-Blue as when the fault first appeared, the dealership the car went into blamed the quality of the Ad-Blue, and would only acknowledge that the Ad-Blue was of correct quality upon seeing the actual receipt from the dealership used to refill it !

Porsche will use anything to wriggle out of warranty claims though from what I've read.. sure someone on here had an approved used Porsche with the 2-yr warranty and got told that if they fitted a non-OE Porsche battery then it would invalidate the WHOLE warranty.

I've had same issue. Been back in twice for this, 650 miles and cr wont start etc with a full tank of Adblue. They say they've now fixed the issue and that it was a sensor.

That's interesting, how many miles had you done before the fault, and how many since it was fixed ?

I replenished the adblue in a 2017 Cayenne Diesel S. Top tip, buy a plastic funnel. Stick the funnel in the adblue tank filler hole and then pour the adblue into the funnel through the cheap plastic spouty thing that is provided with the adblue.

Better to buy a 1 litre bottle with the correct fitting, empity it into the tank then cut off the bottom the pour the adblue from your bulk bottle into your new funnel, when full it’s easy to shut off the connection and remove the bottle. Keep it for the next fill!

I had no idea there was an "official Porsche ad blue bottle"...I've been using the funnel technique!

First time was about 5000 miles just after filling it myself. Went to the OPC and they fixed something then about 200 miles later again which was about 3 weeks ago. They said they'd changed a sensor and it's been fine but admittedly only about 300 miles since.

I guess you could get 'your people to call my people' in Cardiff for a chat if you're getting nowhere fast? Ask for Martin Wright in service, he's a good guy.

I had no idea there was an "official Porsche ad blue bottle"...I've been using the funnel technique!
I don’t think it’s specific to Porsche, just a generic Adblu connection like this

We have had the very same problem which has been going on for a month. Porsche East London removed the engine, cleaned the Adblue ports, refitted the engine, tested the vehicle for 20 miles, we picked the vehicle up did another 25 miles and the adblue fault light came on again. Porsche! wake up and smell the coffee, you have a problem.

AdBlue fill on mine when it came up was £35 at local OPC

Don’t know how old your car is, but I eventually went to the ombudsman as Porsche kept on telling me it wasn’t faulty. To this day I can’t understand their lack of customer service. Ended up returning the car and not buying another Porsche.

AdBlue doesn't go into the engine.
