I had a new gts macan in December, it was meant to be used by the girlfriend but she has used it once! I have managed to clock 8k Miles in it and I must say it’s an amazing car with more than enough go considering the size of it. In my opinion it would be hard to beat it as an all round car which is more than capable of putting a large smile on your face. Might sell this one if you are interested.

Just to make you aware we also considered and tested the new c63 estate and the macan was far better quality and hands down far more usable. I’m just over 6ft and there was no chance of anyone sitting behind me in the c63. Plus I personally didn’t feel it was that well finished. At least with a porsche you can personalise it to your taste. I felt after looking at a few amg cars I thought they where all the same inside and not really big enough if you have a small family.

I really don't like estates if I'm honest this would be my first suv and certainly my first Porsche, I'm going down this weekend to have a look and check them out

Service interval is 2 years or 20k miles.

I've had mine just over a month.Every car is a lifestyle choice but if you want excellent build quality, a great driver experience, extraordinary SUV handling, the ability to move 5 people in comfort, decent luggage space and elegant looks, go for the Macan.

On like for like spec, the S was 5k+ cheaper for me than the GTS. Have a play with the configurator.

I'm struggling to get the seat comfortable in mine. 450 miles in and I must have tried 80 odd combinations! My 981 just had manual Sports plus seats which were great (fore/aft, up/down and backrest angle). Not sure how long I will be able to put up with this one?

Speak to James at JCT.

We've had all sorts of SUV's for daily stters, recently swapped a cayenne s diesel for a SVR sport and bought my son a Macan s diesel, the Macan drives far better than both.

I've got a 981 Spyder and a Macan. I too struggle to get perfectly comfortable in the Macan.

The thing I noticed is that in the Macan you are not sitting in a straight line. The pedals are slightly to the right of the seat, perhaps it's this that makes in difficult to get comfortable.
I think that's the reason, I only get comfortable if I bring my left leg back to the seat squab, which 'untwists' my lower back. Never noticed on test drive of 50 miles, damn!

There are three seat options on the Macan - 8-way adjustable, 14-way and 18-way. They're all quite different and its very much down to your own physical build and your personal preference. If possible, try all 3 of them and then decide.

And those that are uncomfortable what seats do you have? Because if you've all got the same then I will at least know which I'm looking for

Mine are the 18 way sports adaptives with memory/comfort access. Perhaps in this case, for me, more is less?

Looks good that turbo!

Another question what are the service intervals?
Every 10k or 20k?
Not sure if anyone has answered yet, but my S Diesel is showing minor at c.20k in 2 years, a major at c.40k in 4 years and an oil change at c10k or 2 years. This may change as the miles go on?

we have knocked up 16,000 miles in our gts and it has been faultless, as an all-round package I think it is simply brilliant.

Regarding seats I found the lower side bolsters on the 18 way to stiff so I kept the standard GTS seats.

Regarding the GTS vs S prices - this really depends on what you would spec.

If you really like the design pack and adding a number of other options then the GTS is a no brainer, as there are a number of other benefits.

- reduced LED headlights (if spec'd).
- turbo brakes.
- uprated suspension. For me this is the biggest thing as it really did make a difference when chucking the car about. the fact they have put the same setup on the turbo performance edition speaks volumes.
- uprated engine.

residuals are another thing to consider as generally a GTS model holds its value slightly better.

I test drove a Macan as a potential daily driver a couple of months ago, liked the way it drove, liked the way it looked and it's a good size for me but with a few interior trinkets and some wheels costs soon added up.

I ended up with a £36K Golf R Estate on a cheap lease deal that's just as fast, drives just as nice (if not better) is about the same size but with a bigger boot for a fraction of the cost. There's nothing fancy about the VW badge but its well equipped and does everything a Macan does (except see over other traffic) and its only a daily, I really couldn't justify the price difference to a Macan.

Tbh you could say any car isn't worth it but I've had my vw golf gti (didn't want the R) and I'm not loyal to a particular brand as such I just want to try different cars, and I've done the golf gti thing now so that's ticked off, plus I'm not sure I like the golf estate to me it look abit fussy on the rear end and rear quarters plus I think 30-40k on a vw golf is a lot of money

My shortlist was:
Rs3
The new golf 2.5 that they're testing
A evoque
Merc glc
BMW 440i grancoupe

The rs3 will be hot property with thieves, same with the new golf that they will apparently make, the evoque I was put off by the fixed panoramic roof and there's something about them I don't like, the BMW will lose a st load of money I reckon and the merc glc has crabbing issues which when you're paying 40-50k I think is shocking!

I've loved the macan on the outside and one parked next to me a while ago and it looked nice inside, I just happened to browse the price and realised it's pretty much within budget, then I read they were one of the highest on maintaining value with some at a few year old going for very similar to new price and retaining 78% of their value! That to me is all bonus points

We have just gone for a new Macan S petrol. Had an S4 as the family car, was stolen a few months back and used as a getaway car for a job in Birmingham! Eventually written off. We have a 5 & 3 year old and the Macan really seems to fit the bill, it is bigger than the S4 (must be much bigger than a Golf) and is still an exciting drive. Considered the diesel but it does not seem the right place to be putting money, plus the sound of the 3.0 V6 petrol was really nice. Ours should be here in 2-3 weeks, at the moment we are using my 911 as the only car which is proving somewhat testing (on us and the car!).

Oh and if you are concerned about the lack of boot space for the odd holiday trip etc then spec the roof rails so you can attached a roof box. They can not be retrofitted so kind of future proof it for that potential requirement

Yeah cheers for that my only concern regarding boot space is for shopping and family days out and luggage for the airport I go to Florida next year and can't even fit 2 cases in the golf so certainly won't fit 4

Taxi for us now as my dad has become a tree hugger and sold his 3yr old RRS for a bloody plug in Prius!

Re seats - I've got 18-ways and they are very comfortable and supportive for me and Mrs S. They offer you so many adjustment options that you have to give yourself plenty of time to find what's right for you. But we're all different shapes and sizes, so some people will prefer the 14 or 8-ways.

The Macan Forum has loads of useful info on what to consider when buying. https://www.macanforums.co.uk/index.php
